GBU placed 6th.  Andrew Lee placed 4th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:06:27.  Andrew Jelinsky placed 6th in the 100 yard breaststroke with a time of 1:07:04.  GBU recorded 24 personal best times.  Next Saturday GBU will compete in Sectionals at Neenah.  Go GBU!&lt;br /&gt;                                                                                                                                                           &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Girls Basketball&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Congratulations to the varsity girls basketball team on their victory over DePere last Friday.  DePere was ranked 2nd in the State in the Division 1 polls..  The team would like to thank the pep band and the pom and dance team for helping to create an electrifying atmosphere. The next home game is Friday, February 12th vs Ashwaubenon.  Freshmen and JV games at 5:45 and Varsity at 7:30.&lt;br /&gt;                                                                                                                                                           &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Jazz Ensemble and Cruise Band Practices&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Jazz Ensemble and Cruise Band Practices are cancelled for tonight.  Jazz Ensembles will meet again Wednesday Night with jazz 2 at 5:30 and jazz 1 at 6:30. It is filled with laughs galore, unexpected twists and turns, eccentric characters, cross dressing, suspicious and bewildering events, and those favorite hit songs of the 80’s.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;There are speaking roles for 11 women, 13 men and extras needed to complete the cast.  Although this is not a musical, there will be some great 80’s songs included in the show for singing and dancing roles.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;For all who wish to audition for a role in the play, there will be an important drama meeting on Monday, Feb. 8th at 3:15 in the choir room. These awards were for students who had a cumulative GPA of 3.5 for last school year. They knocked off Manitowoc last night 43 to 16!  Matt Pennings defeated another top 5 wrester by earning a hard fought 3-0 decision over Tyler Wetencamp.  Matt is undefeated going into regionals!  In their final senior duals, Spencer Tielens and Pat DeWane got pins while Mark VandenAvond won in overtime.  Also earning a pin  last night was Marshall Pennings.  Winning by decisions were Steven Cygan,  Alex Cooney, Dalton Tielens, and Jason Romitti.  The team  finished their conference season with seven wins and only one loss.  They took second place behind a tough Pulaski team that is ranked fourth in state. They have now qualified for State which will be held Saturday Feb 13th. Congrats ladies!"&lt;br /&gt;                                                                                                                                                           &lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Wrestling&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The wrestling team continued on its’ roll this season, easily outdistancing Ashwaubenon and Wrightstown by over 30 points to win the Door County Classic in Sturgeon Bay.  The team was lead by 1st place finishes from Marshall and Matthew Pennings.  Marshall, who is ranked second in the state at 135 pounds, dominated his weight class, majoring every wrestler. He improved his record to 35 and 4.  Matthew, who is ranked first in state at 160 pounds, improved his record to 37 and 0 by pinning his finals opponent in three minutes.  Ten other wrestlers placed for the team led by Christian Tointon, Mark VandenAvond, and Pat DeWane who all placed second and Steven Cygan who placed third. &lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;The JV was also in action and had a successful weekend at the Bayport Invitational. Junior Varsity Swimmer, Scott Reinsvold, placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 28.54. The team lost a wrestler due to injury and dropped a few close duals to some very tough teams but overall wrestled really well. Top wrestlers were Matt Pennings who finished undefeated on the day with three pins, and put his overall record at 32 and 0, Aaron Wercheck , Pat DeWane and Mark VandenAvond who all went 4 and 1, with Mark’s only loss coming by one point to the #1 ranked wrestler in the state at his weight class. Dalton Tielens, Jason Romitti, Marshall Pennings, Spencer Tielens, and Mark VandenAvond all won by pin last night helping the team to a 70 to 3 win over the Redwings. Preble-East is five and one (5-1) in conference and ten and one (10-1) overall. To put the season into some perspective, in their wins, they have outscored their opponents 615 to 98. They are working hard and doing a great job, so congratulate a wrestler if you see him! This weekend the Varsity team heads to Whitnall High School to participate in the toughest 16 team dual tournament in the state. The JV team travels to Appleton West. Selected student will have the opportunity to select an intensive 10-day program on medicine at prestige colleges around the states. Registration deadline is January 29th. Selected student will have the opportunity to select an intensive 10-day program on medicine at prestige colleges around the states. Registration deadline is January 29th. Goal setting, pre-season workouts and 2010 track information will be just a few of the things covered at the meeting. They won 64-14 over West Bend East, 49-19 over Greenfield, 77-0 over Waupun, 54-14 over West Bend West, and in the Championship match won 46-27 over Campbellsport.  Preble-East set a record by winning the championship for the fifth year in a row, all with perfect records.  Going undefeated on the day were Deavon Krings, Marshall Pennings, Aaron Wercheck, Matt Pennings, and Spencer Tielens.  Having one loss on the day were Pedro Hernandez,Jason Romitti, Mark VandenAvond, and Pat DeWane. Please be sure to check the Excel document to see if your name is there.  If not, contact your photographer immediately.  We are getting ready to place the photos and once they are placed, no changes can be made. Freshman and JV play at 5:30 and Varsity at 7:30.    The Hornets look to improve to 3-2 with a win. There is also a message in the same file with instructions on what to do if you thought your photo was submitted but your name does not appear on the list. It is your responsibility to check this list to make sure that your photo was received. The yearbook staff will not be responsible if the book is published without your photo. It is not too late to submit your senior photo. However, soon it will be too late for us to put your photo in alphabetical order in the senior section. Each cell phone is good for up to a 75 minutes calling card for a soldier. Please consider attending the upcoming training being offered on suicide prevention. Did you know that suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death amongst adolescents? Did you also know that Freshman students are identified as the group at highest risk of having suicidal thoughts? We are being proactive at Preble and making efforts to increase awareness of warning signs of suicide and how to help a friend through education. The training will be conducted on January 6th from 3:15-4:45 in the LMC. This will count towards one of your required Link Crew events. If there are any articles out, they must be in by Friday Dec 18.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Wrestling&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;This past weekend the Preble-East wrestling team competed in the Willard Schmidt Scramble at Preble high school. The wrestling team took the championship of the 11 team tournament scoring 311.5 points, and defeating the nearest competitor by 100 points. Champions for Preble-East were Steve Cygan at 103, Marshall Pennings at 140, Matthew Pennings at 160, Spencer Tielens at 171 and Mark VandenAvond at 189. Finishing second were Pedro Hernandez and Pat Dewane. Finishing third were Dalton Tielens, Christian Tointon, and Aaron Werchek.&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;Matthew Pennings stayed undefeated on the year and was named the tournament's most valuable wrestler. Great job guys!&lt;br /&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;strong&gt;Volunteers Needed&lt;/strong&gt;&lt;/span&gt;&lt;br /&gt;&lt;span style="font-family:verdana;font-size:85%;"&gt;Volunteers needed Sunday, December 27 from 9:00 am - noon to assist the Green Bay Lions Club with handing out materials prior to the start of the Packer game. This game takes place during Christmas break.
