Intra-City Student Council
We will be having elections for next year’s Intra-City Student Council next week. This group is made up of students from the four high schools in our district, who meet monthly as a group and with members of the Board of Education. Any student who meets the co-curricular guidelines may run for this position. The intent-to-run forms for the Intra-City Student Council election are available in the Main Office, and must be filled in and returned by the end of the day TOMORROW. If you would like to be a leader in this district-wide group, please consider running for ICSC Preble Representative.

Tennis
Last night the boys Varsity Tennis team defeated DePere 4-3 Singles winners were: Mason Mattila and Shane Heyrman. Dobles winners were: Connor Dougherty and Andrew McDonald, and Aron Stumbras and John Vandenhouten. Great team Win!

Culinary Students
The National Sanitation Exam will be given, here at Preble, on Wednesday, May 12, immediately after school. The licensing provided after passing this exam is valid for five years and immediately eliminates the need of paying and taking the sanitation course at the college level which ends up saving you hundreds of dollars.

The cost of this exam is currently $40. If you are interested in taking this exam, please contact Mrs. Spence in room 140 by the end of today!
Spring Fling Week
Next week has been declared Preble Spring Fling Week, and we have some fun planned for you! Check out the bright gold calendars posted around school or the Preble web site for the details. We will have dress-up days and PA trivia all week, culminating in Friday’s lunch hour BBQ, Car Show, Photo Booth, Inflatables, music, games, and more!

Monday’s dress up day is Jersey Day. Wear your favorite Sports jersey or T-shirt and look for paper Milwaukee Brewers and Bucks jerseys hidden in the halls.

Girls Basketball Brat Fry
The Preble Girls Basketball Booster Club will be hosting a brat fry on Sunday, May 2 at Festival Foods East. Please come out to Festival and support the Girls Basketball Team from 10-6.

UW-Madison Pi Kappa Alpha scholarship. There are a few scholarships still available with deadlines quickly approaching. Stop in and check them out.

Yearbook Order
This is a final notice for guaranteed yearbook orders. Tomorrow, Friday, April 30 is the absolute deadline for yearbook orders. You must see Mrs. Sutton in Room 205 if you wish to order a yearbook. Because the official online deadline has passed, late orders are $65. Anyone attempting to order a yearbook after Friday will be put on a waiting list with no guarantee of a yearbook in the fall.

Ceramics and Sculpture 1
Attention anyone in Ms. Nooyen’s Ceramics and Sculpture 1 class first semester. All clay projects have been fired and should be picked up today. The Silent Art Auction begins next week Monday. Any projects left behind will be considered abandoned and will be recycled, thrown away, or sold in the auction.

ATTENTION NHS SENIORS:
Currently only 40% of the students in NHS has completed the Stole Order Form. All seniors in NHS must complete this form. Pick one up today in Student Services –even if you do not need a stole and you are using your brothers or sisters-All students need to be accounted for. Thank you.

Attention Students going on the Art field trip to Chicago:
We will be loading the bus by the main entrance at 7:00 tomorrow morning; we will leave at 7:15. If you are not on the bus we will leave without you. Remember to bring a bag lunch or money, and feel free to bring cameras! Be sure to wear comfortable shoes and appropriate clothing, we will be doing a lot of walking.

Boys Golf
Congratulations to the JV boys golf team for winning the De Pere JV Invite yesterday with a team score of 324. Leading the hornets were Matt Rentmeester 80, Andy Miske 81, Evan Thielen 81 and Max Adams 82. This is a reminder to all members of the boy’s golf team to meet in the cafeteria after school for team pictures.

DECA
The Preble DECA club has returned from our National Competition and we have a lot to be proud of.

Come to tonight’s meeting if you want to check the number of events you have. There are also a couple of opportunities to sign up for some upcoming events if you don’t have the required 5.If you cannot come to the meeting, please contact Mrs. Johnson for your total and for event sign-ups.

Boys Golf

Yesterday the boys golf team competed in the SVA Championship held at Merrill Hills. The team finished 12th out of the 20 team field.

Leading the hornets were Andy Wasulchuk with a 78, Tom Boockmeier 82 and Davis Kim 83.

Post Graduation Party
Attention all Seniors, are you attending the Post Graduation Party?
A letter has been sent to your home through e-mail with the details. The Post Graduation party is June 3rd from 11:30 pm until 2:30 am at Edison Middle School. Admission is free for all. Donations are welcomed. This is a lock in event. You need to arrive before 11:30 pm and may not leave until 2:30 am.

Major prizes will be given out at the end of the evening and winners must be present to win. There are also many fun activities that are offered for example swimming, casino games, spinning wheel, ping pong, Wii, volleyball, basketball, and more surprises are in store for the graduates. Great food and beverages will also be served all evening. This event is for graduates only. You can get your registration form in the main office.

Wear Yellow Day
Wear Yellow Day is only 2 ½ weeks away – May 13. Students looking to buy a STINGCANCER Wear Yellow Day t-shirt can do so starting Friday during lunch periods. The cost is only $5. STINGCANCER members can buy one this Thursday after school at our meeting.

Service Learning Hours
Service-Learning hours are due Friday, May 28. Your requirement is not complete until they are on file in the Career Center. If you have completed the hours, please turn them in as soon as possible. If you will not have met the 24 hour requirement by May 28 and wish to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must have a “service plan” on file in the Career Center indicating how you will complete the service. Once the requirement is met, you will receive your diploma. Remember the “Plan” is your ticket to participate in the graduation ceremony! Pick up a “Plan” from Mrs. Bossell in the Career Center.

An updated senior service list has been posted on the wall near the Student Service office. All seniors are encouraged to check it for discrepancies.

Seniors completing 100+ hours during their high school career will receive red/white/blue service cord for graduation. These hours are due Monday, May 3rd.

Reminder to all students….service hours for the Presidential Award and the Civic Engagement Award are due this Friday, April 30th.

Tennis

The JV Boys tennis team defeated Sheboygan North last night 9-5 JV winners were: A J Kempke, Preston Stary, Tanner Keim, Ethan Maes, Taylor Ryan, Alex Webster, Bradley Maccoux, Brady Engleburt, Matt Pasterski, Cristian Vasiliev, and Bryce Sickles.

JV Track
The boys and girls JV Track teams both won the city outdoor meet held at West High last night. Both teams took many first place finishes to easily win the meets. Congratulations JV’s.

Asian Club

Yearbook
The yearbook ordering deadline with the yearbook company has now passed. Payments will no longer be accepted by the company. If you wish to order a yearbook at this point, the price is now $65 and should be made by check to Mrs. Sutton in Room 205 by the end of this week. The check should be made out to Preble High School Yearbook. Only a very few extra copies are ordered, so after the cut off here this Friday, your name can only be added to a waiting list which will not guarantee delivery. If you have a question as to the status of your yearbook order, you may check online following the information on the Preble web site or check with Mrs. Sutton in Room 205 before or after school.

Attention athletes trainer Dave will again be offering the Bellin XL class this summer at Preble. The classes run Monday and Wednesday mornings. Sign up sheets are available on the Preble athletic website or can be picked up in the main office.

On Friday, the JV boys golf team won the FRCC Eastern Division golf meet held at Royal Scot. Leading the hornets were Andy Miske with a 39 and Max Adams and Chad Westenberg with 40.

Track and Field
Our men’s track and field team won the Green Bay Preble Relays for the 15th consecutive year on Friday. This also puts our team total of winning this meet at 26 of the last 33 years.

Two new meet records were established: The group of Greg Parent, Jamel Robertson, Brandon Mills, and Jake Wallenfang broke the long jump record, and Taylor Pasterski, Jesus Rascon, Brandon Mills, and Jesse VandenAvond broke the 400 Relay record.

Today, our boys and girls track and field teams will compete in the Green Bay City Meet which will be held this year at Notre Dame. Events begin at 4:00. Come over and support your team.

Athletes in the city meet will be released at 2:01 today. All track athletes that are not in Monday’s meet will have practice. Line ups for Tuesday’s meet will be announced at practice.

Post Prom Party
Tomorrow you have the chance to experience one of the most memorable evenings of your high school years. Your Junior Prom is just for you. After a beautiful Prom night, how about continuing the fun, by attending the Free Post Prom Party. Today is your last day to pre-register, registration forms are in the main office. However, we are taking registration at the Post Prom party door. Even if you are not attending prom you can still attend the Post Prom Party. Come and hang out with your friends and enjoy a free night of fun, food and beverages, and a chance to win wonderful prizes. The Party is April 24th from 10:30 pm until 2 am at Edison Middle School. You need to arrive before Midnight and may not leave until 2:00. By attending you have a chance to win prizes which include a Sharp 19" flat screen High definition TV, a Casio High definition digital video camera, and numerous smaller door prizes which will be given out throughout the evening, gas cards, itunes cards and more, you must be present to win. We encourage all Juniors and Prom dates to attend. Fun activities include, Black Jack, ping-pong, basketball, volleyball, music, DDR, guitar hero, Wii and more. Come and enjoy this great event that was planned just for you.

The Science, Math, And Rational Thinking club will meet after school today in Mr. Sindberg’s room to work on Solar Olympics projects.

Forensics
The State Forensic Competition was a HUGE success. The team earned 8 gold medals, 11 silver and 5 bronze and it was announced yesterday that they were awarded the prestigious “Excellence in Speech Award” which is ONLY awarded to the top 5% scoring schools out of 360 competing school districts. CONGRATULATIONS FORENSICS! WE ARE PROUD OF YOU‼‼‼!
Prom
Remember to purchase your Prom tickets today during lunch hours in the Main Office. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door. Prom Court members should meet in the Commons at 3:15 today.

We will begin decorating the Commons for the Prom after school today and work until about 8 PM. Decorating will continue tomorrow morning at 9 AM. All Student Council members and any Juniors who wish to help should plan to meet in the Commons.

With each ticket, every Prom-goer will get a 5x7 photo from Harmann. Photo packages will also be available for purchase at the dance, starting at $19.00.

Student Council / Seniors
There will be a meeting for the Senior Student Council members today during Period 4 in Room 203.

Yearbook
This is a final reminder that yearbook payment is due to the yearbook company by this Friday. After this Friday, the price will increase to $65 and students will not be able to order them online but must see Mrs. Sutton in Room 205. Orders received after Friday are not guaranteed. Instructions for paying online by credit card are on the Preble website. It is now probably too late to get a check to the company by Friday.

Knitting Club and Vox Box
There will be no knitting club and no vox box meetings this week or next week on Wednesdays.

The girls track team took 2nd place in a three team meet at Bayport last night. The team was lead by Kim Drewiske and Jill Englebert, both double winners as the team fought hard and nearly up ended Bayport.

Post Graduation Party
Attention all Seniors, are you attending the Post Graduation Party? A letter has been sent to your home through e-mail with the details. The Post Graduation party is June 3rd from 11:30 pm until 2:30 am at Edison Middle School. Admission is free for all. Donations are welcomed. This is a lock in event. You need to arrive before 11:30 pm and may not leave until 2:30 am.

Major prizes will be given out at the end of the evening and winners must be present to win. There are also many fun activities that are offered for example swimming, casino games, spinning wheel, ping pong, Wii, volleyball, basketball, and more surprises are in store for the graduates. Scholarship

Yearbook
Final payments for the 2010 yearbook are due at the yearbook company by April 25, not here at school. Since this falls on a Sunday, we are recommending that you either pay by credit card online by next Friday, April 23 or mail your payment by this coming Monday. Instructions for ordering a 2010 yearbook are on the Preble website. As of Monday, April 26, the cost will be $65 and we cannot guarantee that we will be able to reserve a book for you after that date. Very few extra books are ordered each year and after April 30, students’ names will go on a waiting list, which often means that you will not get a book. We don’t want anyone to miss out.

The deadline for senior ads to be received is also April 30. Ad forms were sent twice to parents of seniors. If you have a question about either ordering or an ad, see Mrs. Sutton in Room 205.

Yesterday the boys golf team finished 3rd in the 12 team conference meet held at Royals St. Patrick’s. Leading the Hornets was Tom Boockmeier who was meet medalist with a 75 and Andy Waselchuck with an 83.

Today is the National Day of Silence
The Day of Silence is a day of action to protest the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and their supporters.

Students take a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBT students and their supporters. It is expected of every Preble student to be respectful and considerate toward those students who took this day-long vow of silence.

Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to the girls varsity volleyball team for being named Team of the Year by Bellin Health Sports Medicine. The team will be honored along with the other award recipients at the 9th Annual Bellin Night of Champions at the Lambeau Field Atrium on May 16. All varsity players are encouraged to attend the banquet and should talk to Coach Heimerman by next Wednesday.

Thirty-five members of the 2010 Preble Forensics Team will be on their way to Madison tomorrow to compete in the State Festival. Over 380 high schools from all over the state will compete in this two day event. Our team will definitely be “Seeking the Gold!” for Preble so wish them Good Luck!!

All students are reminded that the Presidential Service Award will be given to those who volunteer 100+ hours of service from May 1 - April 30 of each year.

Here is some important information regarding Prom:

1 – The Prom tickets will be on sale all NEXT WEEK in the MAIN OFFICE ONLY during the lunch hours. Tickets will NOT be sold in the Commons. Each ticket will cost $20.00. Guest pass sheets are due in the Main Office by April 22 in order to buy non-Preble tickets. NO TICKETS WILL BE SOLD AT THE DOOR AT ALL. All Prom tickets must be purchased by the end of the day next Friday, April 23.

2 – Help is needed on building Prom decorations. Any Student Council member and any Junior who would like to help may come to room 200 during study halls or lunch hours. Also, we will work on building Prom decorations tomorrow—Friday—right after school in room 200.

MAC Scholars will meet TODAY after school from 3:00 to 4:00 pm in Room 107

Tomorrow is yearbook club and organization photo day.
Teachers were sent a schedule, which should be posted in classrooms for students to consult today regarding specific times for photos. Students should leave their classrooms and head quietly and quickly to the auditorium a few minutes before the scheduled time. They should return immediately following that particular session unless they have a photo scheduled within the next ten minutes. Lists of club members excused appear in the very first folder on the staff drive in files by time scheduled, so that teachers may confirm that a particular student is excused for a photo. Students should check with their club adviser if they have questions.

This is another reminder that full payment for yearbook orders must be received at the yearbook company by April 25. Late orders will cost substantially more and do not guarantee that a book will be printed for you. Check the Preble website for directions on ordering the 2010 yearbook.

Track
Congratulations to our men’s track and field team for winning the State Indoor Meet this past weekend in Whitewater.

The meet was decided in the last event with our 1600 M Relay team having to win the event in order to win the meet. With Preble running behind with one lap to go, Mike Servais ran a tremendous last leg and passed the other schools to win the event which gave us the state title. Greg Parent was also named the Most Valuable Athlete of the meet by winning the long jump and placing in 2 other events. This was the 3rd State Indoor title for our track and field team in the past 6 years. Congratulations State Champions

Volunteers Needed
Volunteers needed for the ASPIRO phone-a thon on Monday, April 19 from 5pm-8:30pm. Volunteers will receive dinner, t-shirt, and a chance to earn prizes. Stop in the Career Center for further details.

Post Prom Party Announcement
Attention all Juniors, you can still attend and pre-register for the Post Prom Party, you can get a registration form in the main office. The Post Prom party is April 24th from 10:30 pm until 2 am at Edison Middle School. You need to arrive before Midnight and may not leave until 2:00. By attending you have a chance to win prizes which include a Sharp 19" flat screen High definition TV, a Casio High definition digital video camera, and numerous smaller door prizes which will be given out throughout the evening, gas cards, itunes cards and more, you must be present to win. Seniors graduation will be here before you know it. As part of your graduation requirement, you must have 24 hours of service learning on file in the Career Center. Service hours are due May 28. If you are looking for ideas on how to complete the service, stop in the Career Center.

All students are reminded that the Presidential Service Award will be given to those who volunteer 100+ hours of service from May 1 - April 30 of each year.

Freshmen and sophomores who complete 25-99 service hours from May 1 – April 30 of each year are eligible to receive the Civic Engagement Award. Stop in the Career Center for further information.

SUMMER SCHOOL REGISRTATION FORMS

All forms must be signed by your parent and some classes need a teacher signature. The cost is $13.00 per class however free and reduced students have their fees waived. The Day of Silence this year is on Friday, April 16th.

The Day of Silence is a day of action to protest the bullying and harassment of lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender students and their supporters.

If you are interested in taking a day-long vow of silence to symbolically represent the silencing of LGBT students and their supporters …please stop by room 106 to sign-up AND pick-up a Teacher Permission Form that must be signed by all of your teachers.

Post Prom Party Announcement
Attention all Juniors, are you attending the Post Prom Party? You have a chance to win a free parking pass if you pre-register by April 5th so turn in your pre-registration for the party this week, to be eligible to win the parking pass. A letter has been sent to your home with the details. The Post Prom party is April 24th from 10:30 pm until 2 am at Edison Middle School. This is a lock in event. You need to arrive before Midnight and may not leave until 2:00. We are giving out a Sharp 19" flat screen High definition TV and a Casio High definition digital video camera at the end of the evening and winners must be present to win. There are also many fun activities that are offered for example, Black Jack, ping-pong, basketball, volleyball, music, DDR, guitar hero, Wii and more. Free food and soda/water are provided. Numerous smaller door prizes will be given out throughout the evening, gas cards, itunes cards and more. What an exciting time to spend with your friends, and it’s free. We encourage all Juniors to attend even if you do not attend prom. This event is for Juniors and their Prom guest. You can get your registration form in the main office.

SUMMER SCHOOL REGISRTATION FORMS
The summer school registrations forms are available in the Student Services office. Please stop in and request an application. All forms must be signed by your parent and some classes need a teacher signature. The cost is $13.00 per class however free and reduced students have their fees waived. See your school counselor if you have questions. This summer there are many more options and there are opportunities to retake classes like: Physical Science, Language Arts and Social Studies. Pick up your summer school application form today.

National Chemistry Olympiad
Mr. Bornowski and Mr. Haller would like to congratulate the chemistry students who participated in the National chemistry Olympiad the week before spring break. Preble had four of the top ten scores for the Northeast Wisconsin Region. Congratulations to McKinley Meyer, Josh Shutter, Billy Laluzerne, and Codey May for scoring in the top ten. McKinley and Josh have qualified for the National Chemistry Olympiad Exam level. Fred Dorn and Taylor Truttmann were top scorers for the first year chemistry students. Congratulations to all the students on their accomplishments.

A representative from The College of Menominee Nations will be in the Career Center to share information to ALL interested juniors and seniors on earning three free college credits through Grants during the summer of 2010. The theme of this year’s cabaret show is “The Age of Rock” which will cover the history of rock music from the 50’s to today. Don’t miss your last chance to see our award winning show choirs right here at Preble High School. Shows are April 9-10th at 7:00. On Saturday there is also the option to attend the dinner show before the stage show with food prepared by our award winning culinary arts class. Volunteers Needed
Eisenhower Elementary is in need of a few volunteers to supervise children while parents attend meetings on Monday and Tuesday evenings from 6pm-7:30pm through April.

Red Smith needs volunteers to assist with their annual Spring Carnival on Saturday, April 10 from 9am-3pm. Stop in the Career Center for details.

Last night our men’s track and field team won the Neenah Indoor Invitational for the 11th time in the past 12 years, by defeating a strong group of division one teams. Preble earned 12 first place finishes out of the 17 events at the meet.

Chess Team Announcement
Congratulations to the Chess Team on a great 2009-2010 season. We started the season with 20 students on our roster, and ended up with 57!‼

A 5-member varsity chess team traveled to UW-Oshkosh last weekend to compete at the Wisconsin State Chess Tournament. This was the first Green Bay high school to do so since 1994! Preble’s team took 10th in the Division 2 tournament. Congratulations to Branden Longton for taking 3rd overall in Division 2 on his board.

Mark your calendars, Chess Team starts up again on October 25th. Next year promises a greatly expanded tournament schedule and a longer season.

Preble Band
During the spring break the music department cruised the Bahamas on the Royal Caribbean’s Monarch of the Sea. While we were there the band, Center Stage and Rendezvous performed in the cruise sponsored music festival. The Preble band received an excellent rating and both the Center Stage and Rendezvous show choirs received a superior rating, and outstanding individual soloists awards were given to: Max Schweiner, Annie Beauchaine, Keegan Herwald, Dan Cape, Molly Mineau, Devin VanDyke, Nora Hastings,and Mary Arendt. Also on the cruise Katie Follett was the fourth runner up and Jordan Kropp was second in the ship’s hula hoop competition. Mr. Marlowe, Mr. Flogel and Mrs. Fitchett represented Preble High School at “Name That Tune.” After two days of second place finishes, the team was finally victorious on the third day. On the last day of our cruise Joey Bina and Mr. Marlowe entered the crowning event of the ship, the belly flop contest. After a tight contest and overtime, Mr. Marlowe came out as the gold medal winner of the ship. He was then treated by everyone on the cruise as royalty for the rest of the trip. All the Preble students were constantly commended on their behavior and conduct by the ship’s staff, cruise members, and the bus company. Thank you for a great spring break.

The Preble girls track and field team where double winners last night at the William E. Dessart Center. The girls varsity and JV teams out -dualed Notre Dame to win the City Indoor Invitational. There were many fine performances which lead to these big victories. Congratulations girls.

Volunteers Needed
Over 100 volunteers needed for the Easter EggStravaganZoo Event that will take place on Saturday, April 3rd from 10:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. Volunteers will assist as “Bunny Hop Stewards”. The Stewards will help a group of 50 people prepare for and complete the bunny hop dance. The dance lasts for five minutes and Stewards will monitor their group throughout the dance.

If you don’t have time to volunteer….stop out to join the fun and participate in the chance to break a Guinness World Record for the longest bunny hip dance! Further information in the Career Center.

Track and Field
Last night our men’s track and field team competed in the UW-Oshkosh Indoor Invitational last night. There were over 26 division 1 teams at this meet that scored points. Our team showed an early dominance that could not be matched by any other team. Preble scored 99 points compared to the next closest team that had a mere 45 points. First place finishes came from Greg Parent, Jamel Robertson, Mike Servais, Taylor Pasterski, Matt Dobson, and Jim Rettler. Congratulations on the outstanding beginning to a new chapter in Preble Track and Field.

Tonight, our women’s track and field team will host the Preble Invitational Indoor Meet. Events begin at 3:30 in our fieldhouse.

Tomorrow, our men’s track and field team will host the men’s version of the Preble Indoor Invitational. Events begin Thursday at 4:00 in our fieldhouse.

The Preble Hornet Bee-Stro
The Preble Hornet Bee-Stro is back today. The Culinary Arts Three students will be putting their skills to work crafting a scrumptious three-course gourmet meal. The meal is kicked off with a caprese salad. The entrée is spinach and cheese stuffed tenderloin accompanied by roasted baby red potatoes and fresh vegetables.. The third course features a homemade vanilla crème brulee with whipped cream, orange, and mint. Don’t miss out. Stop in and check it out!
