AP Exams Sign-Up
Signing-up for AP Exams will run Monday, February 20th until Friday, March 2nd. A $15.00 deposit per test is required when signing up–made out to Green Bay Area Public Schools. If you are taking more than one test you can write one check to cover the deposit for all the tests. On Friday, March 2 sign-up will end at 3:30pm. Any questions see your AP teacher or Mrs. Koenig in the Main Office.

Hornet Bee-stro
Today, the Hornet Bee-stro will again be opening its doors! What is the Bee-stro, you ask? It is a student-run restaurant that operates only during lunch periods on designated Tuesday’s throughout the school year. The restaurant is located inside room 139 (inside the Culinary lab). Students plan, cost, order, prepare, serve, and analyze each luncheon. In effect, the students own and operate this establishment. This is all part of the class!

The menu is typically sent out a few days prior to the luncheon, with reservations accepted immediately. The cost is only $8 per person to dine in or $9 per person for take-out. Both include the starter, entrée, dessert, and beverage.We offer a relaxing atmosphere at reasonable prices without the stress of having to “rush” back to class.

Come join us for a hearty lunch that includes a fresh romaine salad tossed with a home-made sweet-sesame vinaigrette, a Choice Chuck-tender steak with Cabernet sauce, Summer Bounty Vegetables, pan-fried seasoned potatoes and homemade dinner rolls. This is followed by our own Raspberry Granita for dessert. All this and a beverage too! You can make reservations in room 140 anytime during the school day.

Black History fact of the day:
In 1881, Spelman College, the first college for black women in the United States, was founded by Sophia B. Packard and Harriet E. Giles.

Bullying Event
To those students involved in the bullying event on February 23rd… If you haven’t already paid your t-shirt fee, please do so in the Student Services office between the hours of 6th through 8th hours. Remember, we need your money in order for you to get a t-shirt! If you have any questions or concerns please see Mrs. Rowe or Mrs. Kubek in Student Services.

Attention Buzz staff:
All layout and editorial staff will meet Tuesday to finish the current issue of the Buzz. Also, anyone interested in compiling the contest entries for the Newspa convention meet Tuesday after school in room 132. Thank you.

Interviewing Practice
Need some practice interviewing? Join FLITE Wednesday after school in room 107 for mock interviews held by area professionals. FLITE members, be sure to dress appropriately!! See you there!

French Club
Please join the French Club in celebrating Mardi Gras! We will have a traditional King’s cake and make masks. A donation of $1 for supplies would be appreciated. The festivities will be held today, after school in room 221 from 3-3:45.

Girls’ Basketball
Last night the girls’ basketball team traveled to Kiel and swept the Raiders. In a high scoring game the varsity left with an 86-70 victory. During the 4th quarter of the varsity game, McKenzie Perttu hit a dynamite 3 point shot to score her 1,516th point which broke the previous scoring record of 1,511 points. Congratulations to McKenzie for breaking this long-standing record.

Link Crew Movie Night
If you’re looking for an affordable and fun way to spend your Friday night, Link Crew has your answer. Later this week Link Crew will be selling discounted tickets to 5 great movies at the Marcus East Cinema. Catrina Revolinski
Congratulations to Catrina Revolinski for being Preble’s only medal winner at last night’s very challenging meet at Ashwaubenon. She earned a 5th place finish. Congratulations Catrina!

Polar Plunge
Do you want to donate to a good cause and see some Preble teachers and students jump into freezing water? You can do your part by donating money during your lunch hours at the ticket booth. All money donated will go to support Special Olympics of Brown County.

Softball
Freshman girls, and other who might be interested in going out for softball for the first time, be sure to remember to look for the softball sign up table this Friday during your lunch period in the lunch room. This is a great chance to ask any questions about softball sign up and pick up forms if you are interested.

Intramural Basketball Championship
Preble’s first Intramural Basketball Championship game was played last night with Sneezel & Friends beating the ABA’s 43-36. Championship team members include Trevor Kim, Alex White, Adam Wendtland, Sam Schneider, Zach Treml, Cody Kirchman, Drew Schneider, Dylan Watzka, and Noah Mott. Congratulations‼

Track and Field

Athletic Eligibility Form
Are you a spring sport athlete who is going out for Track, Baseball, golf, Soccer, Tennis, or Softball? Did you hand in your Athletic Eligibility Form? All athletes must be cleared by the main office in order to tryout. The only way you can get cleared by the main office to hand in your Athletic Eligibility Form. These forms can be picked up in the office. You must then have your parents fill it out and hand it back into the main office. The office will then check to make sure you have your required paperwork on file-sports physical, code of conduct and hippa form. This all needs to happen before your tryout or first day of practice. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Petitjean in the main office.

Tutoring
Are you interested in tutoring middle school students after school at Edison MS? There will be a sign up sheet in the Career Center for more information. This is a great way to get your yearly required 25 hours for NHS.

all current Juniors will be attending, “My Education, My Way”, a presentation conducted by NWTC, UW-Green Bay, and St. Norbert. College representatives will provide in-depth information about how to increase your chances of being accepted at the colleges of your choice!

National FFA Week
This week FFA members in the Green Bay Preble Agriscience/Natural Resources Department will be celebrating National FFA Week. It is their opportunity to share and showcase skills they are working on in many of the diverse agriscience/natural resource career areas. Did you know Preble FFA members do volunteer work at the Bay Beach Wildlife Sanctuary, Bay Area Humane Society and even in our school greenhouse? These volunteer opportunities help our FFA members work towards fulfilling the National FFA Mission Statement of Premier Leadership, Personal Growth and Career Success.. Happy National FFA Week to the members of the Green Bay Preble FFA.

Lost Ring
Students last week a ring was lost in the PE area. This ring is silver with a heart shaped blue sapphire stone. If found and turned into the main office a reward will be offered with no questions asked.

Wrestling
Congratulations to all the Preble East wrestlers who competed at sectionals at Pulaski this past Saturday. Steven Cygan and Evan Garcia won their weight class at 113 and 126 pounds to earn a birth at the WIAA state individual wrestling championships this Thursday Friday and Saturday. Also, a big congratulations to Jason Romitti and David Rentmeester who finished their wrestling career.

Literacy Lab
This is just a reminder that the Literacy Lab is open periods 3-6 in room 149. Come in and get help with class essays, scholarship essays, reading assignments, and even ACT or TABE prep. This schedule will continue through next week. Hopefully we can get the lab open full days by the end of the month, but until then – come in during your lunch periods.

Black History Fact of the Day:
In 1868, the Fourteenth Amendment to the Constitution was ratified, defining citizenship. Individuals born or naturalized in the United States are American citizens, including those born as slaves. This nullified the Dred Scott Case of 1857, which had ruled that blacks were not citizens.

There will be an informational meeting tonight after school in room 146 for any boy interested in playing golf this spring. Please see Mr. Johnson for more information.
