Cross Country
Attention those interested in joining the 2009 Preble Cross Country Team: There will be an informational meeting for all boys on Monday, June 1st at 3:15 in room 264 (health room). Whether you are a veteran runner or brand new to the sport of distance running the meeting will help answer any questions about the upcoming season. We need as many girls out for the team as possible, there are no cuts from the team and everyone participates in every meet. Be a part of a great group of young people and join the ongoing tradition of Preble Cross Country!!!

Tonight the Preble Lady Hornets begin State Regional play against Shawano. The game is being played at Green Bay West at 4:30! Come support your Soccer Hornets as they begin Post-Season action! See you there!

Latino Club

There will be no Latino Club picnic today after school.

Looking for a way to get one of your events done AND help this year’s freshman class succeed? If so, come to a brief meeting right after school on Tuesday, June 2nd in Room 222 to find out how you can help with our Refresh & Review study session. If you have any questions or concerns please see Ms. Rowe, Ms. Nelson, or Mr. Yonts.

Math lab
Starting next week Monday, June 1st , math lab will be limited to those students who need to take quizzes and tests. Students who need help on homework should get a pass from their math teacher so they can be admitted into math lab also. If you are not taking a test or a quiz, or you do not have a pink pass, you will be asked to go back to your study hall.

Pre-Participations Exams
Bellin Health is offering Pre-Participation Exams to all student-athletes who will participating in a sport at Preble High School next year. This event is open to any athletes who needs a WIAA Pre-Participation Exam. Physicals will be done at Preble High School on June 11th from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Sign up will be in the main office. Physical forms are also available in the office and will need to be signed by a parent and brought to the doctor on June 11th. The cost is $20.00 and will be donated back to Preble High School.

REWARD
There is a reward being offered for information leading to the return of a 16GB Ipod Touch in a pink case that went missing during choir 2nd hour yesterday, May 28. If you have any information about this, please see Mrs. Every.

LMC

The library is closed to study hall students for the rest of the year. If you need to be in the LMC, you will need to get a pink pass from the teacher assigning the work.

Attention: All track and field athletes
Your track banquet information was due yesterday. If you plan on attending, you must see one of the coaches immediately.

If you have not returned your track uniform or cleaned out your locker, please take care of that responsibility. All remaining equipment will be taken to Goodwill and you will be charged for your uniform.

Today, our Men’s and women’s track and field teams will compete in the WIAA Sectional competition at Ashwaubenon with events beginning at 3:30. Come and support your track athletes.

Girls Soccer

The Girls Soccer game scheduled for Thursday evening has been re-scheduled to Friday afternoon at 4:30 p.m. The game is against Shawano and will be played at Green Bay West.

Girls Track
The Preble girls track team won the Bayport Regional sending several girls on to the sectionals. The team had several high finishes and look forward as they try to advance to the state meet in La Crosse.

Utilities Engineering Technology

NWTC is offering a new program this fall, Utilities Engineering Technology, which is designed to prepare students with a general science and mathematics background for work with energy generation and transmission companies as well as large manufacturers. This program will prepare students for employment as utility system designer, planners, construction supervisors and various other positions. Stop in the Career Center for further information.

Parking Passes

Starting Thursday we will selling a limited number of parking passes for $10.00. You will be able to start parking in the lot on Friday, May 29 until Thursday, June 11th. These can be purchased at the front security desk first come first serve.

Our men’s track and field team put together a stellar performance last night to bring home our biggest team title of the season so far. Our men’s team won the WIAA Regional for the 18th consecutive year last night, and qualified 22 positions for the WIAA Sectional this coming Friday, which will be held at Ashwaubenon

If you plan on attending the track and field banquet, you return the form and payment by tomorrow.

If you are not in the sectional line up, you need to clean out your lockers and return your team uniform to the Phy Ed office.

Don’t miss the Preble Dance Team’s annual Rummage Sale. There will be 18 families donating name brand clothes, sporting equipment, furniture, toys, and more! On Saturday the Preble Lady Hornets defeated DePere in a shootout after double overtime. The win means Preble finishes the regular season in 3rd place in the conference. Congratulations Ladies! JV also played on Saturday and battled DePere to a 1-1 tie.
Preble begins post-season Regional action on Thursday against Shawano. The game is being played at Green Bay West at 6:30!

Boys Golf
Varsity Golfers 2nd in Brown County Meet: The varsity golf team finished in 2nd in the Brown County Meet held at Wander Springs Golf Club on Friday. Tom Boockmeier finished second overall with a 76, while Kyle Hafeman finished tied for 8th with a 79.

The golf team will begin WIAA Tournament with the regional competition held at Brown County Golf Club on Tuesday.

Attention Juniors and seniors interested in summer employment…

NWTC is offering a Summer Youth Work Experience Program. Applicants must complete the Work Certified Class beginning June 15 – July 3rd. Actual employment starts on July 6th and runs through August 28th. Employment will be in the Landscape/Horticulture area completing projects around the NWTC campus. Pay will be $7.15/hour. Upon completion of the Work certification class, participants will get receive a $400 stipend. Stop in the Career Center for details.

Today the NHS Penny War will end.
Please bring your bucket to Student Services any time during period 3 today.

Write your classroom number and number of students in your class on a sheet and place it in the bucket.

The winning classroom will be announced at the end of the day with donuts for the winners.

-SLAG Scholarship – Sponsored by the Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity of University Minnesota-Twin Cities. This is a 500 scholarship to recognize a high school senior who is a strong Student, Leader, Athlete, and a Gentleman. This award is limited to incoming male freshmen planning to attend University of Minnesota-Twin Cities. Applicant is not committed to become a member of the Fraternity. Applications due June 17.

This class will you gain the edge you need to outlast your opponent in a variety of ways. This class will focus on strength, speed, agility, quickness, along with plyometrics and core stability, all which are essential for any athlete who desires being the best in their sport.

Yearbook
This is a reminder to those students who did not order or pay for a 2009 yearbook. We have a very limited number of extra books ordered at the price of $60.00 each. After this Friday, we will not be able to sell any more books. The only thing we can do after Friday is take your name and put it on a waiting list. Please see Mrs. Sutton in Room 205 if you need help with ordering a yearbook or being put on a waiting list. Checks should be made out to Preble.

This notice is for juniors who may be scheduling their senior photos for the 2010 yearbook over the summer: Next year the yearbook will no longer be accepting actual photographs for the senior photos section. We have had too many issues this year with the type of paper used by some photographers that makes scanning difficult. In order to continue to produce a quality color yearbook, beginning with the class of 2010, senior yearbook photos MUST be submitted digitally, preferably on a CD. Photos should be submitted at 300 resolution and in jpeg format. The same size applies, 1.5 by 2 inches. If you have questions, please see Mrs. Sutton in Room 205.

Project Respect
Project respect will kick off their t-shirt sales today by selling the highly anticipated SWARM t-shirts in the commons during today’s lunch hours.

If you are registered to be in the car show AND do NOT have a parking pass, you will be allowed to park in the church parking lot, only on the Danz Ave side, tomorrow morning only until 3rd hour. You do NOT need to park in the Preble parking lots nor do you need a pass for the church lot. Please note that you will NOT be able to park in the church lot AFTER the car show.

SWARM
Have you ever been hurt by someone else’s words? Have you ever thought that some words were offensive? There are three main words that Mrs. Nusbaum’s and Mr. Nez’s classes are trying to stop here at Preble. These three words discriminate against people’s ability to learn, their sexual orientation, and their skin color. Whether these words are spoken to be hurtful or not, they can and do kill people’s spirits.

Tomorrow and Friday you will have the opportunity to buy a SWARM t-shirt. The letters of SWARM stand for “some words are really mean”. Shirts will be available in the commons Thursday and Friday for $6.00. With each purchase of a shirt you will also get a coupon for a free chocolate chip cookie between your morning classes.

Today is the last day to order DVDs of the spring play Disco Fever. You may pick up a form in room118 or 247 and order a DVD for only $30. Again, Disco Fever DVD orders are due today.

Pineapple Cheesecake

Celebrate Hawaiian day in the Commons today with a delicious piece of pineapple cheesecake! FCCLA and Culinary Arts will be selling two delicious desserts during the lunch hours- pineapple cheesecake and dirt cake. Both will be lightened up so there will be no need to feel guilty for this delicious indulgence! FCA

Fellowship of Christian Athletes will not be meeting this Sunday May 24 due to Memorial Day weekend. Our next even will be the Brewer Tailgate concert on Saturday May 30th. Plan to depart from Preble at 1:00 pm and return around 11:00 pm. We have a few openings left...so be sure to sign up this week if you haven't already. Cost is $27 and that needs to be turned in this week. We may be renting a bus or vans, so additional charge may be added to cover rental, gas and parking. Visit the front office for more details.

Soccer

Last night the Preble Soccer Hornets defeated Green Bay Southwest 1-nil in the opening game of the Fox River Classic Conference Tournament. The game’s lone goal was scored by Heather Hack on a deflection from Emily Young. Goalkeeper Taylor Weuve recorded the shutout for the Hornets.

The Preble JV team also played and won 2-1.

The next game is at home tomorrow evening versus Notre Dame.

Service Learning Hours
Service Learning hours are due Tuesday, May 26. Your requirement is not complete until they are on file in the Career Center. If you have completed the hours, please turn them in as soon as possible. If you will not have met the 24 hour requirement by May 26 and wish to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must have a “service plan” on file in the Career Center indicating how you will complete the service. Once the requirement is met, you will receive your diploma. Remember the “Plan” is your ticket to participate in the graduation ceremony!

Girl’s Track Announcement
The girl’s track team placed 2nd in the 12- team conference meet held last night in Sheboygan. The girls were paced by Gina Gigot’s two firsts and a second and Stephanie Stock’s first and two second place finishes. Congratulations girls.

NHS Penny War
Today will be the start of the NHS Penny War. If you have a class now, period 3, and would like to participate please send a student to the Career Center for your bucket. Student Services student assistants and NHS members have colorfully decorated buckets for this event. All proceeds will benefit children with cerebral palsy and cystic fibrosis. The winning classroom will receive donuts for their class period 3 on Wed. May 27th. Please join the fun.

Golfers win East Division!
Tom Boockmeier was medalist with a 79 and Trevor Quass finished second with an 80 to lead the Hornet golf team to the East Division Championship in a meet held yesterday at Whistling Straits Irish Course in Sheboygan. Brandon Chaloupka added an 82 and finished and placed 5th overall.

The varsity golf team’s next meet is the Fox River Classic Conference meet to be held at Wander Springs golf course Thursday.

The JV golf team will be in action tomorrow at the Fox River Classic Conference again at Wander Spring golf club.

Pre-Participations Exams
Bellin Health is offering Pre-Participation Exams to all student-athletes who will participating in a sport at Preble High School next year. This event is open to any athletes who needs a WIAA Pre-Participation Exam. Physicals will be done at Preble High School on June 11th from 9:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Sign up will be in the main office. Physical forms are also available in the office and will need to be signed by a parent and brought to the doctor on June 11th. The cost is $20.00 and will be donated back to Preble High School.

Project Respect

Mr. Nez’s and Mrs. Nusbaum’s SS classes are bringing Project Respect here to Preble. In the upcoming weeks you will be hearing announcements and seeing posters and t-shirts around school about the SWARM idea. SWARM stands for “Some words are really mean”. Students and staff will soon be able to buy shirts to support the SWARM cause.

Rendezvous Show Choir

Congratulations to the Rendezvous Show Choir for bringing home the third title this season for Preble Show Choirs. They won 1st place at the Cedar Point Show Choir Competition in Sandusky, Ohio over the weekend. Lauren Honold was also named the outstanding vocalist of the competition. Congratulations to our show choirs on an outstanding season!!

Spring Fling Car Show

The Preble FFA is having their 10th annual Spring Fling car show on Friday, May 22. This years classes are Import, Truck, Motorcycle, Stock, Domestic, Junker, Classic, and Mom and Dad. If you are still interested in participating in the car show, there are still entry forms available in room 187. Deadline for all entries are due on May 20th. Come and enjoy the great fun we have in store for you.

The Summer Youth Employment Program in NE WI will provide selected youth with a short-term training opportunity that will result in a certification and a stipend if they successfully complete the program. The Job Center is assisting in the process by gathering screening information for the program. Those interested in applying for the Summer Youth Employment Program should stop in the Career Center to pick up the Workforce Investment Act Screening Document.

Last night the Preble Soccer Hornets defeated Pulaski 3-0. Preble was led by Kasey VanderWeegen with a goal and an assist. Other goals were scored by Kathleen VanLieshout and Karli Wagner. Goalkeeper Taylor Weuve recorded 4 saves in earning the shutout. JV also defeated Pulaski 4-0.

The next game for both Varsity and JV is tomorrow at Germantown.

Golf

Trevor Quass shot an even par 36 and Tom Boockmeier a one over par 37 to lead the Hornet varsity golf team over Sheboygan South in a meet held at Whistling Straits.

The JV golfers also took first and were led in scoring by Payne Quass who shot a 40 and Phil Lemke with a 41.

Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland

Preble is one of only 9 schools in the state of Wisconsin to have ever been chosen by the American High School theatre Festival committee to perform in the Fringe Festival in Edinburgh, Scotland It is a once in a lifetime event for these outstanding young performers. If you or your parents were not able to attend the meeting last night and are interested in knowing more about this incredible opportunity, stop in Room 118 and pick up the information from Mrs. Miller today.

Red Cross Bloodmobile

This is a reminder that the Red Cross Bloodmobile is taking place today in the old gym. Walk-in appointments can be taken. Students must have a photo ID with birthdate or a donor card. Students who are first-time donors will receive a T-shirt. There will also be give-ways for movie passes and donor bracelets. The last appointments will be taken during period 7.

Items in the auction include: a Vincent van Gogh inspired chair, wheel thrown and slab made pottery, a mosaic shelf, and lace bowls specially made by Mrs. Hohnman’s adaptive art class. The Preble girls track team placed second in the Eastern Divisional meet in Sheboygan last night. The girls were paced by Gina Gigot’s three first place finishes, Kristen Short in the shot put and discus, Janna Eckert in the jumps, Stephanie Stock in the middle distances and the sprint relays. Congratulations girls on a fine performance.

Hornets Win Best Ball Event!!
Tom Boockmeier and Trevor Quass came in with an even par 72, and Brandon Chaloupka and Davis Kim fired a 73 to propel the Hornet golf team to a 1st place finish in the 10 team Branch River Best ball tournament held in Manitowoc.

Practice for those not participating in today’s meet will practice at Royal Scot from 3:30 to 4:45. Arrange your rides accordingly.

Preble Players Theatre
There will be an informational meeting for any student interested in being a cast, crew, or pit member of the Preble Players Theatre production that will travel to London and Scotland next summer on Thursday May 14th at 5:30pm in the choir room. Please make plans to attend this meeting with your parents if you have any interest in going on this once in a lifetime trip! Attention Student Council members!

Blood Drive
Our last Bloodmobile of the year will be held this Friday in the old gym. Students who have completed their donor forms will receive them through their teacher tomorrow morning. Anyone who has not yet returned their donor form should bring them to the Main Office today. Blank forms are available for those students 16 and older who still wish to make an appointment.

Attention seniors:
Recently, you should have received a yellow survey to list your plans for after high school and any scholarships that you received. The counselors use this information to recognize seniors at the Senior Recognition Night on May 26th. If you haven't returned your survey to Student Services, please do so ASAP. If you receive scholarships AFTER you submit the survey, it is extremely important that you let your counselor know this as well.

If you receive an invitation to the Senior Recognition Night, we MUST have your response in Student Services no later than this Friday, May 15th. Please help us by returning your RSVP's to Student Services by this deadline so that we can plan appropriately.

Yearbook

This is a last call for any student who wants a 2009 Preble all-color yearbook. The cost is now $60. Checks should be made out to Preble and given to Mrs. Sutton in Room 205 along with the name and address of the student wanting the book. We have a very limited number of books that can be reserved by those ordering now, well past the deadline. Once those books are reserved, we can only take names for the waiting list. Don’t miss out. If you are not sure if you ordered a book or not, go to buyayearbook.com and verify that your order is paid or see Mrs. Sutton in room 205.

Any student whose address has changed since ordering a book or whose address changes over the summer MUST contact either the yearbook company or Mrs. Sutton to make sure that the book is directed to the correct address. Books will only be forwarded by the post office at a cost to YOU. If the book is returned to Preble as undeliverable because of the wrong address, there will also be an additional charge.

There is an audition workshop Wednesday after school for any students wishing to audition for the Preble Show Choirs for next year. Nice job to all who participated in the NHS Induction Ceremony last night. Congratulations to the 84 juniors and sophomores that were inducted. A special thank you to the NHS officers: Nolan Bornowski, Andrew Smits, Katelyn Smith, Kat Pahl, Danielle Westenberg, and Jeff Stoller for running the show. Parents and guests enjoyed themselves and are very proud of you as students. Thanks to the current members for brings desserts, thanks to Mr. C for sharing and showcasing his flowers, and thanks for the Culinary Arts students for the punch.

Preble Players Theatre

There will be an informational meeting for any student interested in being a cast, crew, or pit member of the Preble Players Theatre production that will travel to London and Scotland next summer on Thursday May 14th at 5:30pm in the choir room. Attention all Student Council members:

We will have an important meeting TOMORROW, Wednesday, May 13 during Period 5 in Room 205. We must select an alternate to the Intra-City Student Council, and your vote is requested. Tickets for Senior Ball go on sale today in Room 200 and in the Commons during lunch periods and MUST BE purchased by the end of the day this FRIDAY in order to have reservations made on time.

Blood Drive
Friday marks Preble’s last Blood drive of the year, and all students who weigh at least 110 pounds and who are 16 or older are eligible to donate blood. 16-year olds must bring a signed parent permission form available when you sign up. Forms are now available in the Commons. Teachers—please count the number of students who are 16 and also the number of students who are 17 and older and who wish to donate blood and send a runner to the Commons with the numbers for 16 year old and for 17 or older for donor forms. Students should return these to the Main Office when completed.

Teen Connection

Teen Connection will air on WI Public Television next Tuesday, May 12 at 7 p.m. The topic for this session is “Military Kids”. In the past few years, WI has seen some of the largest military troop deployments in the state’s history. A panel of young people and adult experts will discuss how these deployments affect the lives of family members – especially children - back at home. This is a live presentation where students are able to call in with questions and/or comments.

East/Preble Marlin Swim Team

There will be an informational meeting for any student interested in joining the Fall 2009 East/Preble Marlin Swim Team. The meeting is for parents and swimmers. It will be held on Wed. May 13th at 5pm in room 105 at Preble. Enter through the gym doors. If you are unable to attend the meeting, please come to the office to pick up the agenda and contact phone number information.

Parking Lot
Students are reminded that there is no loitering in the student parking lots after school. We have had some reports of this and ask students to please not hang out in the parking lots if you have no business being there.

Girls Volleyball

Reminder to all girls interested in volleyball that we have open gym tonight at 7pm.

Boys Golf

Tom Boockmeier and Brian Chaloupka each fired a 38 to lead the Hornet golfers over Sheboygan North and Pulaski in a FRCC meet held Friday at Royal Scot Country Club. Trevor Quass chipped in with a 39.

The JV golfers also took first and were led in scoring by Trevor Kim who shot a 40 and Payne Quass with a 41.

On Saturday, the Hornet varsity team placed 2nd in the Jay B. Hill Invitational. Tom Boockmeier placed 2nd with a 74 and Trevor Quass 5th with a 76. Tom Boockmeier and Kyle Hafemen placed 4th in the bestball portion of the meet with a 71.

Preble Players Theatre

Soccer

Last night the Preble Soccer Hornets Varsity and JV played DePere. Varsity lost 1-0; however JV won their game 3-0.

Varsity is in action at home again tonight against Kenosha Bradford. Game time is 6:30 p.m. The Hornets will also host a game against Rhinelander tomorrow morning at 9:00 a.m.

Sting Cancer Sting Stronger Hair Donation
Would you like to make a difference in a child's life? Here is your chance! On May 13th (next Wed.), Sting Cancer is hosting a hair cutting donation for the Childhood Leukemia Foundation. All hair that is cut will go to make wigs for children under 21 who are suffering from any type of hair loss. The hair cutting will take place in the LMC during 4th, 5th, and 6th hours. If you are interested or would like more information, please pick up a sign-up sheet in the main office. The great part of this experience is that the Childhood Leukemia Foundation is accepting any donations and the minimum amount of hair that can be donated is only six inches. Remember that for only six inches of hair or more you can be giving a gift that a sick child will never forget.

The boys varsity lost a very close match to undefeated DePere 4-3 Singles winners were Danny Fitchett and Jaren Sternard. Winning in doubles was Matt Nockerts and Aron Stumbas. 2). The Boys JV tennis team dropped a 6-3 decision to DePere. Singles winners were: Shane Heyrman, Mason Matilla and Daniel Ullmer.

Sting Caner Wear Yellow Day

Next Wednesday, May 13th will be our second annual Sting Cancer Wear yellow day throughout Green Bay and Brown County.  There are already 4 billboards up in Green Bay and Mayor Scmitt will proclaim all of Green Bay wear yellow and Brown County Supervisor Tom Hinz will proclaim all of Brown County wear yellow on May 13th in honor of the Sting Cancer initiative.

It will be a very special day in which we will be able to remember and honor all of our friends who have been touched by cancer. 

Without any real advertising, we have had orders for over 3,00 t-shirts and the community outpouring has been amazing.

We want staff and students to have the first chance at the awesome shirts designed by senior Sammi Van Ess and we want to let you know that the yellow shirts will be made available to you on Tuesday May 12th during the lunch hours. 

Please support Preble Sting Cancer and all of those that have battled cancer by picking up a shirt for $5 on Tuesday May 12th and be sure to wear your shirt on Wednesday May 13th.

Girls Soccer
Last night the Preble Soccer Hornets defeated Sheboygan South 1-0 in a Fox River Classic Conference showdown. The lone goal was scored by Kathleen VanLieshout. Goalkeeper Tori Moule recorded 6 saves in earning the shutout for Preble. JV also played and defeated South 5-0. The next game for both Varsity and JV is Thursday evening at home against De Pere.

Tennis

The Preble Boys tennis team dropped a tough match last night to Sheboygan North 6-1 The lone Preble win came from #3 Doubles Jordan Weuve and John VandenHouten.

The Preble Boys Jv tennis team lost 6-2 to Sheboygan North. Winners for Preble were #2 singles Ka Lee.

Attention teachers!
Today, the School Board is giving the opportunity for all students in grades 9, 10, and 11 to vote for two Preble students who will represent Preble in next year’s Intra-City Student Council. Congratulations to Matt Pennings for his recognition by the Wisconsin Crossface Wrestling Magazine. His combined efforts in wrestling, placing 4th at the WIAA State Tournament, and his academic efforts has earned him 3rd Team Academic Honors for the State of Wisconsin in the sport of wrestling.

Hornet Varsity Golfers 1st
Trevor Quass fired a one under par 35 and Brian Chaloupka a 39 to lead the Hornet golfers over Bay Port and Southwest in a meet held at Brown County Golf Course.

The JV golf team lost a tough meet by 1 stroke to Southwest. Freshman Trevor Kim led the JV’s with a 40, while Davis Kim and Bryan Adams each chipped in with a 42.

Your requirement is not complete until they are on file in the Career Center. If you have completed the hours, please turn them in as soon as possible. If you will not have met the 24 hour requirement by May 26 and wish to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must have a “service plan” on file in the Career Center indicating how you will complete the service. Once the requirement is met, you will receive your diploma. Remember the “Plan” is your ticket to participate in the graduation ceremony!

DECA
The Preble DECA Club just returned from the National Competition this weekend.

We are very proud to announce that for the first time in our schools history – We had a team of two students take First Place in the Nation.

Alex Falish and Ryann Roznowski were honored with a first place trophy for their efforts in the Internet Marketing event.

This is a rare and very prestigious award. Please congratulate them if you see them.

Attention Soccer fans.
Over the weekend both of the Preble Hornet JV teams competed in the West Bend Invitational Tournament. JV1 took second place winning 6-0, 2-0 and then dropping the championship game 1-0. JV 2 was 1-2 for the tournament. Congratulations girls.

The next Varsity and JV game is tomorrow evening at Sheboygan South. The next home game is Thursday vs DePere.

NWTC’s Multicultural Resource Center

NWTC’s Multicultural Resource Center is offering a free, four-day summer program to help minority students make the transition into college. The program runs from June 15-18th from 8:30am-1:30pm. Topics will include instructor and course expectations, note taking, test preparation, time management, and involvement in college activities. Registration forms available in the Career Center.

Track Announcement Monday May 4th

Attention: All Track and Field Athletes.
The lineup for the FRCC Conference Relays meet for today, will be posted by the locker room and in the commons.

The release time for this conference event is at 1:45 today. This is a reminder that the only allowed spike for today is the ¼” pyramid

There will be 24 teams at this meet. Bring warm clothing for the later portion of the meet.

Because all of the coaching staff will be at the Conference Relays meet, there will not be practice today. You can complete your workout given by your event coaches on your own.

Trees for Tomorrow
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the following students from Preble High for representing their school with pride and dignity. These students worked in the field for 4 days from sun up to well past sun down in the north woods of Eagle River, WI. They learned a lot about environmental issues and had a tremendous hands-on experience.

Forensics
Congratulations to Carol Miller, Carol Gruski and the Forensics team who went to the State Forensics Festival in Madison on April 17th and 18th and received 14 gold, 7 silver, and 2 bronze medals. They have won the prestigious 2009 "Excellence in Speech" Award given annually by the Wisconsin High School Forensics Association to the top 5% scoring schools competing at State. This year there were over 4,000 students competing from 364 school districts. Our 34 Preble students compiled enough points and received this coveted award in recognition of our outstanding speech program. This is our 10th "Excellence in Speech" award since 1996.

Soccer
Last night the Preble Soccer Hornets defeated Sheboygan North 1-0 in a Fox River Classic Conference showdown. The goal was scored by Kasey Vanderweegen on an assist from Heather Hack. Taylor Weuve recorded 6 saves in the shutout for Preble. JV also played and tied Sheboygan North 1-1. The next game for both Varsity and JV is Tuesday at Sheboygan South.

Girls Track
The Preble girls track team placed 2nd in a 7 team meet held in Oshkosh last night. The girls competed hard falling only to Watertown. Congratulations girls.

The freshmen girls also competed in Manitowac last night. The girls were paced by high places from Jacy Georgia, Karissa Pomasl, Sara Jessick, Jena Johnson and Dalia DelVillor. Nice job ladies.
