H1N1 Immunization Clinic
A mailing from the Brown County Health Department was sent regarding a free H1N1 immunization clinic for students. The Health department will be holding one of their clinics at Preble in November for Preble students only. If you choose to get this shot, that form needs to be filled out, signed by a parent/guardian, and brought back to the main office. For further information, you can call the Brown County Health Department at 448-6421

Yearbook
There will be a meeting after school today to work on the yearbook. If you attended either training session, you may work on prepping photos. If not, you are still needed to proof the underclassmen mug shots for placement in the pages. Come to room 205 after school as your help is needed.

Vox Box and Knitting Club
Vox Box and Knitting Club will both meet this week this Wednesday after school in Room 205. All are welcome to join.

ACT Prep Workshop
Preble HS will be sponsoring an ACT Prep workshop on Saturday, March 13th, 2010 in our LMC.The cost is $50.00 and the workshop is six hours. A flier is available in the Student Services office and will be available on our Preble web site.

Attention Art Club
We will be meeting after school tomorrow. You will need to bring your signed Co-curricular form.

Attention Buzz Staff
We will be working on our articles after school today in room 132. Come join the fun.

Attention Link Crew Leaders:
Wednesday is the deadline for turning in your blue co-curricular participation forms. Please turn them in to an advisor or the basket in the main office.
The plans for the Leader Conference are being finalized. Our bus will leave Preble around 9:30 on Thursday, Nov. 5th and return around 2:45. You will need to pack a lunch to eat while we are at Southwest. Because it is a WKCE day, you will miss all of your classes if you attend, so please talk to your teachers to find out any information you need to know.

See Mrs. Rowe or Mrs. Muzatko in Social Services, Mrs. Geyman in room 222, or Mr. Yonts in room B116 if you have any questions.

Attention National Honor Society students
The Baird’s Creek clean up is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th right after school. We will be done at approximately 5:00 pm. If you plan to participate you need to sign up in the Student Services’ office. You also need to be academically eligible. If you have concerns regarding your eligibility see the AD. You need to have completed a Co-Curricular Code participation form. Questions see Mr. Pannier


Attention Spanish Club Members:
We will meet on Wednesday October 28 at 3:05 in room 221. We will make and decorate sugar skulls for Día de los Muertos.

Attention Student Diversity Leaders:
Your Hansen’s fundraising forms are due to Miss Fisher or Mr. Jennings by Wednesday October 28th. Make sure you have payment for each item ordered!

Cross Country
The boys and girls Cross Country teams traveled to Colburn Park on Saturday to participate in the WIAA State Sectional meet. The boy’s team placed 7th overall. Advancing to the state meet was senior and State Sectional Champion- Matt VandeHei. Congratulations Matt!


The girl’s team varsity placed 6th overall. State qualifiers for the girls were Jill Englebert- 5th and Lauren Orfield- 7th. Good luck next weekend girls!
Congratulations to all runners on your efforts and thank you to all who came out to support our athletes on Saturday and throughout the year.

Traveling with the individual qualifiers will be the boys and girls sectional varsity teams and the alternates. Those individuals and anyone else is interested in riding a fan bus to Wisconsin Rapids the day of the meet, please gather in the small gym at 3:15. All cross country athletes and students are welcome to ride the bus to help support Matt, Jill and Lauren at this years WIAA State Cross Country meet!

FBLA
There will be an FBLA meeting Wednesday October 28 at 3:05 pm in room 146.

Attention FCCLA members
The meeting for this Tuesday, October 27th, has been cancelled. The meeting has been rescheduled for Tuesday, November 3rd after school in room 137. Hope to see all of you there!

Shoes for the Shoeless
Millions of people go without a pair of shoes for their entire lifetimes. Preble’s FFA has organized a “Shoes for the Shoeless” drive to collect gently used shoes to send overseas to second and third world countries. Please drop off your shoes in room 185 or 187 or in the boxes around school. All students and faculty are encouraged to participate in filling the display case. We will be collecting shoes through November 20th, so bring in your shoes for the shoeless. Thank you, Preble FFA.

Girls Volleyball
Congratulations to the girls’ varsity volleyball team for winning Preble’s first regional championship in 10 years. The team swept Appleton West on Saturday night to capture the title. It was the last home game for the Hornets this year and we want to thank the fans who have supported the team through this great season. Girls’ volleyball plays next at De Pere at 8pm on Thursday in a sectional semifinal match.

Technology Engineering Students
There will be a SkillsUSA meeting at 3:05 after school in room 153 on Tuesday October 27th . All students interested in being in Skills USA should be in a attendance. There will be a Guest Speaker Todd Hanson of Infinity Machine and Engineering Corp

Do Something
If you are a believer in what service can do, please join Do Something Tuesday night as we take on a new year of project to help make our school, community and world a better place. Our returning President Jasmine Winters will be leading us on this journey.

There will be a short meeting for varsity tennis players today after school in Room 247 – uniforms are due at that time.

Swim Team
The East/Preble Marlins outswam the Manitowoc lady swimmers Friday with a score of 113 - 57.

Marlins Senior swimmer - Jasmine Lee broke a pool record in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:12.66.

There will be a meeting of S.A.D.D. on Tuesday, October 27 at 3:10 in room 206. Everyone is welcome.

Boys Volleyball
The boy’s varsity volleyball team finished second at the West/Southwest invitational on Saturday with a 3-1 match record. Tonight the team plays at Appleton East for its final conference match of the season.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many volunteer opportunities listed on the service table in the Career Center. Baird School PTO is looking for volunteers to assist with their Halloween party celebration next Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

WKCE
The 10th grade WKCE Reading test is tomorrow from 7:50 – 10:10am. All 10th graders need to report to your assigned rooms and bring a few #2 pencils to take the test. Room assignments are posted on the LMC windows and in the commons. Breakfast will be provided to all 10th graders free of charge in the commons. You must have your ID.

Wednesday is the math test. In addition to #2 pencils, 10th graders need to have a scientific calculator for the test. If you do not have one, please ask a friend to borrow one for that morning. If you absolutely cannot find one to borrow, you will need to let your test proctor know on Tuesday.

Busses will run at normal times.

Period 1 starts tomorrow at 10:20am. We will still run a 1-8 schedule with shortened class periods.

If you are not a 10th grader and are in school during the testing, you will only be allowed in the commons. Bring any materials you may need – you will NOT be allowed to go to your lockers or talk to any teachers.
