Attention Art Club
We will be meeting after school next week Tuesday. You will need to bring your signed Co-curricular form.

Attention Link Crew Leaders:
We still need many of you to turn in your blue co-curricular participation form. Drop them off with one of the advisors or in the basket in the main office. Without this form, you will be unable to participate in any Link Crew activities or to earn your service hours for Link Crew. Even if you turned in a co-curricular form for another activity, you still must turn one in for Link Crew.

We have confirmed a time for the Leader Conference at Southwest High School on Nov. 5th. We will leave Preble at approximately 9:30 and return at around 2:45. Because this is a shortened WKCE testing day, you will miss all of your classes on that day if you attend. Please talk to your teachers about a possible absence. Listen to future announcements for more information.

Attention National Honor Society students
The Baird’s Creek clean up is scheduled for Tuesday, October 27th right after school. We will be done at approximately 5:00 pm. If you plan to participate you need to sign up in the Student Services’ office. You also need to be academically eligible. If you have concerns regarding your eligibility see the AD. You need to have completed a Co-Curricular Code participation form. Questions see Mr. Pannier

Boys Basketball
Any boy who is interested in trying out for the freshman, JV, or varsity boys basketball teams this year needs to come to the information and sign up meeting. This meeting will be on Monday October 26th right after school in the Math Lab, room 246. Please get to the meeting as quick as possible so we can get started.

FCCLA
The next FCCLA meeting is on Tuesday, October 27th. We will be decorating cookies in the lab so please let Ms. Blaney know if you are bringing a child along so that we know how many supplies to purchase.

Shoes for the Shoeless
Do you have your shoes on the right feet this morning? Are your shoes untied? Millions of people in second and third world countries don’t have to worry about those questions. The “Shoes for the Shoeless” program was started last year as a way for shoe repair shops to do something productive with shoes that had been dropped off for repair but never picked up. The repair shops collected thousands of shoes that helped disaster victims, the homeless, and others in need. If you have wearable shoes that are collecting dust, please bring them to rooms 185 or 187 or in the boxes around school. The shoes will be put back into service and someone will benefit from your generosity. Thank you, Preble FFA.

Football Meeting
There will be a brief meeting for all football players after school in the weightroom today. This meeting is for all freshman, sophomore, and junior football players. Seniors do not have to attend. This meeting will last less than ½ hour
Again, all football players after school today, in the weightroom

Attention: all football players
All equipment must be turned in by Monday of next week. All lockers must be cleaned out. The lockeroom will be cleaned. Any remaining items will be given to charity. If you are out for a winter sport, please do not move into the lockeroom until all is taken care of.

A Boo-gram is a message you can have delivered to your friends next Wednesday, October 28 during periods 1, 2, and 3. But that’s not all. A Boo-grams is also a gift certificate for $1.50 to the Hornets Nest so that your friend can pick up a treat, as well. Look for the Boo-gram station in the Commons during lunch hours or stop in Room 200 to treats your friends.

There will be a meeting of S.A.D.D. on Tuesday, October 27 at 3:10 in room 206. Everyone is welcome.

Volunteer Opportunities
There are many volunteer opportunities listed on the service table in the Career Center. Baird School PTO is looking for volunteers to assist with their Halloween party celebration next Tuesday, Oct. 27 from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m.

Regarding WKCE testing:
Just a reminder to students not in 10th grade, you do not need to come to school until classes begin on WKCE testing days. You may come if you need to and sit in the commons, however breakfast will ONLY be supplied for 10th graders on WKCE days at 7:00– no one else will be able to get breakfast until later that morning.

10th graders – please check the lists posted in both in the commons (by the auditorium doors) and the LMC (on the windows across from attendance) to see what room you are testing in. The lists are in order by ID #.

Here are some more test taking strategies to be used for the WKCE testing that will begin next Tuesday:

1.Make sure to get a good night’s rest.
2.Make sure to eat healthy – especially the mornings of exams.
3.Exercising for a few days before the test will help reduce stress
4.On the test - Don’t keep changing your answer, usually your first choice is the right one, unless you miss-read the question
5.Usually the correct answer is the choice with the most information
