Blood Drive
This is an important announcement for students 16 and older. Next Monday, September 21, Preble will host its first Red Cross Bloodmobile of the year. Students who are 16 may donate blood with parent permission. Students who are 17 or older may donate without permission needed. Minimum weight requirements have changed over the summer, and students must weigh at least 110 pounds, but this is now based upon your height, as well. Students, especially girls, may need to weigh more than 110 pounds to donate. There is a chart posted in the Commons with all of the exact information given. We now have donor appointment sheets available in the Main Office, and these sheets will be available all week. Appointments are necessary. Teachers—at this time please count the number of 16 year-olds and the number of 17 or older students in your class who wish to receive a donor sheet and send a runner to the Commons with BOTH NUMBERS. There is separate information for 16 year-olds, so this number must be kept separate. Students who receive donor sheets should fill them in and return them to the Main Office by Friday to receive an appointment.
The Jack Drankoff Preble Community 5k
The start of one of the best weeks of the school year is almost here and the anticipation for homecoming week is reaching a fever pitch here at Preble High School. If you are one of the many students who just can’t wait to start doing homecoming activities, then you must sign up and participate in the first homecoming activity. The Jack Drankoff Preble Community 5k is this Saturday and it is the first homecoming event of the year. Get homecoming off to a great start by coming out on Saturday morning at 9 AM and show your school spirit. This year you can get the festive week off to a great start while you help the Green Bay community because we are going to donate profits from this event to Freedom House. Entry forms are available in the main office or on the Preble Website. GO HORNETS!
Asian Club:
Asian Club will be starting at Preble. All students who are interested are invited to attend the meetings this Thursday from 3:05 to 4:00pm. The meetings will take place right after school in room 149.
This is a great opportunity for you to engage in and support Asian cultural awareness at Preble. Students will take leadership roles to organize, plan, and provide activities to promote respect for cultural diversity at Preble.
See Mrs. Thao in Student Services if interested in joining or show up at the meeting THURSDAY after school in room 149 from 3:05 to 4:00pm.
Attention Sophmores and any one interested in ordering a class ring. Representatives from Brickhouse School Services will be in the Preble ticket booth today during the lunch hours for a ring shopping day. Class ring samples will be on display and order packets will be available for anyone that is interested. Please be sure to stop by and check it out!
Volunteer Opportunity
Baird School is in need of volunteers this Saturday, Sept. 19 from 10am-2pm for their annual school carnival. Stop in the Career Center for details.
Bible Study
Once again this year Preble High School will be having a student lead Bible study every Thursday morning before school. The Study will start this Thursday at 7 AM in Mr. Greenawald’s room(242). Hope to see a lot of you there.

Spirit Week
Spirit Week is just around the corner, and plans are now being made for Homecoming events. Tomorrow, Spirit Week calendars will be posted around school, listing the dress up days, hall hunts, and activities for students and staff. Any group, club or organization who wishes to have a vehicle or float in the Homecoming Parade needs to pick up and return a float application in the Main Office. Non-Preble guest forms for the dance are also available in the Main Office. Tickets for the Homecoming dance will be $10.00 each, and will go on sale next Monday in the Commons during lunch hours. Start planning now so that you don’t miss out on Spirit Week, beginning with this Saturday’s 5K Run and Sting Cancer event.
Boys Volleyball
The varsity boy’s volleyball team lost a tough 5 set match last night to Fond du Lac 25-22, 17-25, 21-25, 25-15, and 13-15. The team was led by Shane Heyrman will 20 kills and Alex Falish with 39 assists.
The Preble/East JV Boy’s Volleyball team won their first game against Fond du Lac last night 25-13 but fell short the 2nd and 3rd game 24-26 and 21-25.
Musical
Anyone involved with the musical that did not attend the meeting last night needs to pick up their information packet in the choir room 189. Everyone please return completed forms to Ms. Schewe’s box in the choir room!
NWTC
NWTC is accepting applications for the 2010-2011 school year this week. In order to be considered complete, an application must contain the following:
-$30 application fee
-Proof of assessment testing (TABE, Accuplacer, ACT, SAT)
-High School transcript
-Any additional admissions requirements published in the catalog
The following programs will have a 5-day application window from Sept. 14-18:
Radiography
Dental Hygiene
Diagnostic Medical Sonography
Applications for these specific programs must be complete at time of registration.
New in 2009 – the Nursing Associate Degree program will remain open past the
5-day application window, until the program is full. Students interested in nursing are encouraged to apply early, since they are unsure of how long the application window will remain open. Applications must also be complete for this program at time of registration.
PAC
The Political Awareness Club will meet on Wednesday after school in Room 105 to discuss political issues of the day. New members are always welcomed.
Senior Presentation
Counselors will be presenting a power point presentation ALL day today, in the auditorium. The presentation will begin 15 minutes after the start of each period. Each senior will need their pink typed passed that was handed out yesterday. Students if you did not get a pass-please request one from the student service office--- between classes only.
Students are NOT required to attend however it is strongly encouraged. Students only need to attend one session. Students-- pick a class period that is the least disruptive to your schedule regarding your learning.
Tennis Team
The varsity tennis team lost a close match, 4-3 to divisional rival, DePere. Earning wins were: Molly Hemes (pronounced Hey-Miss), Brooke Weyenberg, and the doubles team of Joselyn Robertson and Madeline Baretta.
The JV tennis team suffered their first defeat of the season to DePere, losing 4-3. Posting wins were the doubles team of Elise Ziemendorf & Melissa Charles, Lauren Miketenac & Brittani Weyenberg, and Coco Ho & Abhipsa Kar.

Students if you are planning bringing a non Preble student to Homecoming you will need to pick up a guest form in the main office. Forms are due back Sept. 24. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Petitjean
