Sting Cancer:
Please stop by the LMC after school today to meet Jerry Parins, Senior Security Advisor of the Green Bay Packers and a cancer survivor. Jerry and another Packer representative will be on hand to present Sting Cancer with a very generous donation as they believe in all of the great things we have done and want to support sc so we can continue to do great things in the area.

Anyone else who may not be in SC but would like to stop down in the LMC at 3:05 to enjoy the Green Bay Packers presentation to SC. After all, SC considers everyone in this building a part of the SC’s extended family. So, the more people that can come down and display SC in full force, the better. Hope to see everyone in the LMC at 3:05 for about 10 minutes or so.

Attention Underclassmen:
If you do not have a parking pass you will not be able to parking in the park lots. Vehicles in the parking lots without a pass will be ticketed without warning.

All students who have a parking pass will be allowed to turn in their permits for the refund starting on Friday, June 6th if you are finished with your exams. If you still have exams on Monday do not hand them in the end of your exams.

Students without parking passes are able to purchase parking passes for exam days ONLY. You will be required to purchase passes for all three exam days. You will need to bring your driver’s license and $5.00 at the time of purchasing. These will be sold after school on June 2nd ONLY at the front security desk.

Boy's volleyball team

The boy’s volleyball team will be holding a brat fry at the East side Festival Foods all day tomorrow. If you are out and about tomorrow stop by for some tasty food.

A blue ipod was stolen 8th hour on May 27th from a locker in the girls phy ed locker room. A crimestopper reward is available if you have information

Do Something Club
This Saturday, the Do Something Club will be presenting a check to the Family Readiness Group of the 353rd Transportation Company. This army company will be leaving for Iraq this summer and the efforts of the Club and the donations from the Preble Students and staff will allow the soldiers and their families more opportunities for communication during their tour of duty. Please keep these soldiers and their families in your thoughts, as this is their second tour in Iraq

MEMBERS: THE MEETING TIME AT THE RESERVE CENTER WAS MOVED TO 11:30 ON SATURDAY. Again 11:30.

Also, if you have any donations for the care packages for the soldiers from the Preble Family, please drop them into the box in the LMC.

Attention Underclassmen:
Mr. Smith has a opportunity for students looking to earn service learning hours or any students who need to clear up detentions. You would be relocating textbooks on June 5, June 6 and June 9 after exams are completed. If you are interested there is a sign up sheet in the main office. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Petitjean in the main office.

Prospective Club
Attention to all the students left in this building. If you are interested in starting a fishing club at Preble High school then you should come to a organizational meeting next week Tuesday at 3:00 pm in the room 228. It is important that you attend if you want a club like this at school. We would be in need of students interested in planning the logistics of the club. See Mr. Valley in room 228 if you have any further questions.

There will be a sign-up and informational meeting for all girls interested in going out for next year’s tennis team. The meeting will be held on Monday, June 2 at 3:05 in Mrs. Weuve’s room, Room 245. Attendance is mandatory. Players are required to attend even if they attended the previous informational meeting. The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.

Attention Link Crew Leaders for 2008-2009!!

We need Link Crew Leaders to help at the registration days in August! If you are willing to help at the registration days on August 20th or 21st please sign up on the sign up sheet in student services! This will count as one of your three events. If you have any questions please see Mrs. Rowe in the student services office.

Attention juniors who plan to apply to NWTC in a Health Program.

There is a 4-day application window for the following programs:
-Dental Hygiene
-Diagnostic Medical Sonography
-Nursing-Associate Degree
-Radiography

NWTC will accept admissions applications the week of Sept. 2-5, 2008 for the Fall 2009 wait list. It is imperative you apply during this time frame. Applications will only be accepted during this week. Chemistry needs to be completed at the time of application for the Nursing-Associate, Radiography and Diagnostic Medical Sonography programs. Chemistry can be in progress at the time for all other Associate Degree Health Programs. Stop in the Career Center for further details.

Parking Applications
Parking Applications for the 2008-2009 school year are now available in the main office. In order to be eligible for a parking permit you must meet all the requirements which include a valid drivers license, have no fees/fines, and no restricted time. Your application will be returned to you if you to not meet the above requirements. Applications are due June 13th. Any applications turned in after this date will be placed on the waiting list.

Family Fun Run

The proceeds from this run will go to the The Jared Gehm Memorial Scholarship will given to two Preble students involved in Cross Country or who ran distance for Track and Field. This event will be held on June 21, 2008.

Important announcement regarding Sting Cancer.
On Friday immediately after school, Jerry Parins, Senior Security Advisor for the Green Bay Packers and other representatives from the Packers will be here to honor Sting Cancer and to give us a very generous check because of how strongly Jerry and the Packers believe in what we do.

I know Friday is not the easiest, but I am asking you all of you to show up for a short time so we can represent SC at full strength. Also if we can urge any and all students who are in SC or are interested in SC to come down to be part of this presentation.

Please spread the word to everybody and anybody. The bigger crowd the better!!

HORNET GOLFERS WIN L-C QUAD.

The JV golf team took 4 of the first 5 places in a win over East, Southwest and Luxemburg Casco in a meet held at Northbrook Country Club on Friday. Derek Blackman and Thor Nothstine each shot 39 for medalist honors while Payne Quass and Phil Lemke each fired 41 to tie for 4th place.

GSA
The final GSA meeting of the year will be tomorrow after school in room 258. Please bring ideas for summer meetings, as well as thoughts on the year and what we can do to make the GSA better next year. Also bring a treat to share if you wish.

Service Learning hours are due Wednesday, May 28. Your requirement is not complete until they are on file in the Career Center. If you have completed the hours, please turn them in as soon as possible. If you will not have met the 24 hour requirement by May 28, and wish to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must have a “service plan” on file in the Career Center indicating how you will complete the service. Once the requirement is met, you will receive your diploma. Remember the “Plan” is your ticket to participate in the graduation ceremony!

Boy’s Golf
HORNET GOLFERS WIN REGIONAL CROWN

The varsity golf team opened up WIAA tournament play by capturing the regional title at Royal Scot Country Club. Leading the Hornets was meet medalist Tyler Wadzinski with a 1-over par 73. Trevor Quass and Tom Boockmeier each fired 75’s to finish tie for 3rd place.

The Hornet travel to Wisconsin Rapids to play in the WIAA Sectional next Tuesday.

AP Psychology
AP Psychology students may keep their textbooks. If you decide to keep your book, please cross out the barcode inside the front cover. If you do not want your textbook, please return it to Mr. Wiskerchen after school.

Academic Awards
Tomorrow is the Academic Awards ceremony for 9th graders during 2nd hour and 11th graders during 3rd hour. All students will need to report to their classes and will be dismissed via intercom. A list of students who will be receiving awards is posted outside auditorium.

Ballroom Dancing Club
Come “take the lead” in the new Ballroom Dancing Club! Fun beginner lessons will take place every Wednesday, at 3:05 in the wrestling lobby. Expert Ballroom Dance instructor and student teacher, Mike Witte, will be teaching the class. All experience levels are welcome. Wear shoes you’ll be comfortable dancing in, and come join the fun!

Boys Tennis Team
Congratulations to the boys tennis team on their fourth place subsectional finish. The team qualified three players to advance to sectionals: Robert McDonald at #2 singles and the team of Connor Dougherty and Jordan Weuve at #3 doubles.

FCCLA
Attention all students- Cold Stone will be sold today during all three lunch hours. The cost is 3.50. All proceeds will go towards the cost of the FCCLA National Competition. Cool down with some great ice cream and help out a great student organization.

Boy’s Golf
NO GOLF PRACTICE TODAY!

Due the WIAA Regional taking place today, there will be no golf practice for the freshman and JV players.

GSA
Preble’s Gay Straight Alliance is having a meeting tonight after school in room 105. The meeting will last until about 4:00. Bring a friend; bring your thoughts and ideas of how we can make Preble a more tolerant, accepting school. There are only two meetings left before summer so please stop in room 258 and join us after school tonight.

If you have completed the hours, please turn them in as soon as possible. If you will not have met the 24 hour requirement by May 28, and wish to participate in the graduation ceremony, you must have a “service plan” on file in the Career Center indicating how you will complete the service. Once the requirement is met, you will receive your diploma. Remember the “Plan” is your ticket to participate in the graduation ceremony!

Tennis

Members of the boys tennis team that are finished with their season should return their uniforms to Mrs. Weuve sometime this week. Uniforms should be placed in a bag with your name in and returned to Room 245.

The Do Something Club
The Do Something club has collected names of former Preble student and members of the Preble Family who are serving in the military. We will be creating and sending care packages to them by early summer. The school store has kindly donated Preble T-shirts, the staff members have given money, and the Do Something club has raised money for the purchase of a variety of things to send.
We would like your help. We are asking for donations of snack foods, socks and t-shirts, hygiene items, CD’s (preferably comedies), and DVD’s. We are especially looking for new and LIGHTLY used magazines like those on hunting and fishing, sports, gaming, cars and any like popular mechanics. There will be a box in the LMC for the collecting of those materials. Please drop them off this week.

Girl’s Golf
There will be a meeting today after school in room 146 for any girl interested in joining the Preble Girl’s Golf team next fall. Please see Mr. Johnson if you cannot attend.

There will be a brief meeting after school today for all players that are interested in going out for the girls tennis team in the fall. Players are to meet in Room 245 at 3:05. The meeting will last approximately 30 minutes.

Girl's Track and Field
The Preble girls track and field team took home the gold by winning the regional track and field meet last night at Bay Port. Preble had many fine performances with 12 sectional qualifiers.
Those moving on to sectionals will compete this Thursday at Ashwaubenon and hopefully on to state.

HORNET FROSH WIN CITY MEET

The freshman golf team captured the Green Bay City Freshman meet held yesterday at Thornberry Creek Golf Club.


Leading the team were Davis Kim with a 41, and Anthony Graham with a 42.

Men's Track and Field
Our men’s track and field team won the WIAA Regional for the 17th consecutive year. Our team qualified 20 events to the sectional competition this Thursday at Ashwaubenon. Our team put forth an excellent team effort. Come and support our qualifiers as they attempt to qualify for the State meet competition.

Army National Guard

Come “take the lead” in the new Ballroom Dancing Club! Fun beginner lessons will take place every Wednesday, at 3:05 in the wrestling lobby. Expert Ballroom Dance instructor and student teacher, Mike Witte, will be teaching the class. All experience levels are welcome. Wear shoes you’ll be comfortable dancing in, and come join the fun!

Cheerleading Tryouts
The cheerleading team is looking for hard working, committed individuals to represent Preble during the 2008-2009 school year. If you're looking for something that will challenge you mentally and physically, with a heavy dose of school spirit, then try out for the cheer team! Cheerleaders stunt, tumble, dance and compete at local and state competitions besides cheering for Preble football and basketball games.


Practices are Monday and Tuesday, May 19 and 20 from 7:45-9:00 pm in the Wrestling Room. Tryouts are Wednesday, May 21 starting at 3:30 pm. A medical card is required to participate in practices and tryouts, so pick one up from the main office and bring it with you on May 19.


Dodgeball Tournament

The winner of the tourney was East's "God's Team" - 2nd place to Preble's "Team Awesome". Gas cards were the provided to the winners. Movie passes were given to the best team costume West's "Purple Pansies" and for the most fun to watch Preble's "Tilted Kilt's" the amount raised for NEW Community shelter at last count was $2250.00 with money still coming in and approx $80.00 in canned goods for Calvary pantry. A BIG thank to all of you!!

Girl’s Golf

HORNET GOLFERS FINISH 3rd in FRCC and 5th at WAUKESHA INVITATIONAL
The varsity golf team finished 3rd in the FRCC after placing 5th in the 18 hole conference finale. Tyler Wadzinski and Trevor Quass each shot 79 to lead the Hornets.

Tyler Wadzinski was named 2nd team all-conference, while freshman Tom Boockmeier garnered 3rd team honors.

Saturday the team traveled to Waukesha to participate in the 24 team “Kaz” Invitational. The Hornets placed 5th, with Tom Boockmeier shooting a 77 and tying for 6th place individually. Tyler Wadzinski fired a 78 and placed 12th.

Walking Club

Parking Applications
Parking Applications for the 2008-2009 school year are now available in the main office. In order to be eligible for a parking permit you must meet all the requirements which include a valid drivers license, have no fees/fines, and no restricted time. Your application will be returned to you if you to not meet the above requirements. Applications are due June 13th. Any applications turned in after this date will be placed on the waiting list.

Our Men’s and Women’s Track and Field Teams will compete in the WIAA Regional Competition today at Bayport. Come and support our athletes as they challenge for the Regional Team title and try to advance individually to the Sectional Competition on Thursday.

Tyler Wadzinski shot an 80 and placed 9th overall to lead the varsity golf team to a 5th place finish in the Brown County meet held at Wander Springs Golf Club. Brandon Chaloupka was next for the Hornets placing 15th with a score of 82.

There will be a GSA officers meeting next week Tuesday after school in room 258. This will be the final officers meeting to get ready for our last two meetings. Seniors! Graduation is just around the corner and what better way to celebrate than with your Senior Ball. This is a five hour event that includes a full buffet dinner, dance, photo by Harmann and a Senior Ball stainless steel traveler mug. Because this dance already includes your dinner, tickets cost more than just a regular dance, but this is your last one of your high school years and always proves to be a memorable night. We must make reservations for the dinner, and so tickets MUST BE PURCHASED by 6th hours tomorrow. Thesy will be on sale today during lunch hours and after school, and tomorrow at the BBQ. If you don’t get paid until tomorrow, you can make a reservation on a special “HOLD” list tomorrow only at the BBQ. Tickets will NOT be sold at the door.

Family Fun Run

Any students who are interested in the Family Fun Run can pick up entry forms in the main office or from your PE teacher.

The proceeds from this run will go to the The Jared Gehm Memorial Scholarship will given to two Preble students involved in Cross Country or who ran distance for Track and Field. This event will be held on June 21, 2008.


Student Council

Girl's Track and Field

The Preble girl’s track and field team placed 2nd in the 12-team FRCC conference championship meet at Pulaski last night. The team had several fine performances and were lead by Stephanie Stock’s first place finishes in the 400 and 800 meter runs, Emily Wallenfang took two firsts in the triple jump and high hurdles, and Becca Gusmer placed second in the mile and two mile respectively. Great job girls!

Men's Track and Field
Our men’s track and field team added another chapter to the Preble track and field history book last night by going undefeated in the regular season, and by winning the very first FRCC Conference track and field meet by 46 points more than the next closest team.

Congratulations to our senior track athletes who have never lost a conference meet in their 4 year career. This is the 10th consecutive conference championship for our track program.

Congratulations to Brad Parent, who was voted as the conference athlete of the year.

Appropriate Attire
As the weather gets warmer, students need to keep in mind what is appropriate dress for school. If any staff member feels a student’s outfit may be educationally disruptive, that student may be:
v Asked to modify the outfit
v Sent to the office
v Asked to call home to get different clothes
v Sent to ISS for the day

Please make sure all tops have straps, and that all clothing is appropriate.

Show Choir

Well, here’s your chance to let the world know that you can perform. Auditions for Preble’s Award Winning Show Choirs are coming up on May 28&29th.

Tomorrow there will be an audition workshop held after school in the choir room. Attend this workshop and get all of the information you’ll need to audition AND learn the audition dance combination. The workshop begins at 3;15 p.m. next Wednesday. Be there and experience the fun of performing!!!!!! If you have any questions please see Mr. Flogel in the Choir room.


Battle of the Bands
Attention all students, are you ready to hear the best bands in town? Next Friday, May 16th is the Live Strong-Sting Stronger Battle of the Bands for Sting Cancer. This event will be taking place after school in the old gym from 4-10:30. Admission is $3 with I.D. Come and support your favourite local bands as they duke it out for the top spot.

Cheerleaders stunt, tumble, dance and compete at local and state competitions besides cheering for Preble football and basketball games.

Practices are Monday and Tuesday, May 19 and 20 from 7:45-9:00 pm in the Wrestling Room. Tryouts are Wednesday, May 21 starting at 3:30 pm. A medical card is required to participate in practices and tryouts, so pick one up from the main office and bring it with you on May 19.

Date With a Vampire DVDs
DVDs of the play “Date With A Vampire” may be ordered for only $30. Pick up your order form in room 118 or 247. Orders for the “Date With A Vampire” DVDs are due this Friday.

A few posters from “Date With A Vampire” are available. Cast and crew members who want one should see Mrs. Miller in room 118 to pick one up.

QUASS LEADS HORNETS TO DIVISIONAL TITLE
Trevor Quass fired a 2-over par 74 to lead the Hornet golf team to the FRCC Eastern Division Golf Title. Kyle Hafeman shot a 78 and Tyler Wadzinski chipped in with a 79 to aid in the victory.

Golfers don’t forget picture day is Wednesday, May 14, at the course. Time is 5:30.

Link Crew

Dodgeball
Any students who did not sign up for the dodgeball tournament at West and are still interested there are some spots available. If you are interested sign up forms are available in the main office. The cost is 6.00 and must be given at the time of team regristration.

Attention: AP Psychology Students
There will be an A.P. Psychology review session today after school at 3:00 p.m., in room B114. Mr. Wiskerchen will be answering questions and discussing test-taking strategies.

Tomorrow, A.P. Psychology students will be released after 2nd hour for their exam.

Show Choir

Well, here’s your chance to let the world know that you can perform. Auditions for Preble’s Award Winning Show Choirs are coming up on May 28&29th.

On Wednesday there will be an audition workshop held after school in the choir room. Attend this workshop and get all of the information you’ll need to audition AND learn the audition dance combination. The workshop begins at 3;15 p.m. next Wednesday. Ballroom Dancing Club
Come “take the lead” in the new Ballroom Dancing Club! Fun beginner lessons will take place every Wednesday, at 3:05 in the wrestling lobby. Expert Ballroom Dance instructor and student teacher, Mike Witte, will be teaching the class. All experience levels are welcome. Wear shoes you’ll be comfortable dancing in, and come join the fun!

Battle of the Bands
Attention all students, are you ready to hear the best bands in town? Next Friday, May 16th is the Live Strong-Sting Stronger Battle of the Bands for Sting Cancer. This event will be taking place after school in the old gym from 4-10:30. Admission is $3 with I.D. Come and support your favourite local bands as they duke it out for the top spot.

Buzz
Buzz staff will meet on Monday, May 12, to work on the last issue of the paper. All layout, editors, and students working on the senior survey are needed.

Date With a Vampire
Congratulations cast and crews on a “Fang-tastic” run of Date With a Vampire. Everyone agreed that it was a very “ghoul” show! All of you in the crews got “wrapped up” in your jobs and those in the cast gave a “spook-tacular” performance!

Tonight after school is the strike of the set and clean up. All members of the cast and crews are expected to be in the auditorium at 3:15 where attendance will be taken before the work is done.

Order forms for DVD’s will available in the auditorium at the strike and in rooms 118 and 247 during the rest of the week. DVD’s are $30 and due to Ms. Schewe this Friday.

Boy's Golf
Golfers win dual meet, take 3rd in the Jay B. Hill Invitational

Friday the varsity golf team defeated Green Bay West in a dual golf meet held at Highland Ridge Golf Club. Tyler Wadzinski and Derek Rasmussen led the Hornets with scores of 39.
The JV team also defeated West. Payne Quass led the JV’s with a score of 39.
Saturday the Hornets placed 3rd in the 8 team Jay B. Hill Invitational held at Royal Scot Country Club. Tom Boockmeier led the team with a 4 over par 76.

All players not in today’s meet are to be at practice at Royal Scot.

Also a reminder that pictures will be taken Wednesday, May 14th at the course at 5:30. If you do not have informational picture packet, contact Coach Menzel as soon as possible.

Locks of Love
Are you tired of pulling your long hair into a ponytail? Does your long hair get tangled too easily? Are you thinking of cutting your long hair so you will be cooler this summer?

If so, get your haircut on Tuesday, May 13th and donate it to Locks for Love! You can donate as much as 10 inches, but Locks for Love also accepts shorter amounts such as 5 inches.

Locks of Love is a public non-profit organization that provides hairpieces to financially disadvantaged children under age 18 suffering from long-term medical hair loss from any diagnosis.

Volunteer hair stylists will be at Preble on May 13th at 6:30 to cut hair to be donated to Locks for Love.

If you are interested in participating in this great event, see Mrs. Smith or any of the Sting Cancer advisors.

Seniors who have accumulated 100 or more hours over their high school career will be recognized with a bronze cord at the graduation ceremony. In order for seniors to receive their cord, they must have their hours turned in by today, May 12th.

Art Auction
TODAY! is the last day for all students, faculty, and staff to bid on the Art Department’s Silent Auction. Stop by the display case by the art rooms and bid in the binder in room 183. During the fifth and sixth hour, the artwork will be transferred out of the case into the art room. However, the bidding will continue until 3:10 or until the bidders on that piece agree to a final bid. Stop by the room 183 today to see if you are the highest bid. Spring Fling
Attention Students and Staff! Next week will be a great week at Preble High School! We will be celebrating Spring Fling week with activities every day. On Monday, we will celebrate SCRUBS DAY, have Spring Fling trivia on the PA during period 3, and our hall hunt, featuring Ethan Mollet’s face. Check out the halls for the hall hunt and claim a prize in the Main Office. Also, Senior Ball tickets will be on sale in the Commons through next Thursday.

Girl's Softball
Last night your girl’s softball team played a heart filled softball game. The game was played for 4 hours and went into the 16th inning. The game finished in a 4 to 4 tied and will be rescheduled and play next week. Good job last night girls.

Girl's JV Track and Field
The Preble JV girls track and field team won the 6-team Eastern Divisional track meet in Sheboygan last night. The team took several first place finishes. Among the double winners were Kat Pahl, Erin Simons, Abi Cropsey, Kali Cibula, Jordan Michels, and Jenna Smits. Congratulations girls on an overall fine performance.

Juniors and Seniors

in today’s third period you will be given a Senior Survey to complete. I would ask that you take these seriously in that your responses are reviewed as we try to make improvements both at Preble and in the district for those who follow you.

Teachers, please return both completed and uncompleted surveys to the main office prior to the end of this period today.

Appropriate Attire
As the weather gets warmer, students need to keep in mind what is appropriate dress for school. If any staff member feels a student’s outfit may be educationally disruptive, that student may be:
v Asked to modify the outfit
v Sent to the office
v Asked to call home to get different clothes
v Sent to ISS for the day

Please make sure all tops have straps, and that all clothing is appropriate.

JV Golfers finish in 2nd at FRCC Conference Meet
The JV golf team finished 2nd place in the FRCC Conference meet held at Thornberry Creek Golf Club. Phil Lemke was the low scorer for the Hornets with an 86.

Once the requirement is met, you will receive your diploma. Remember the “Plan” is your ticket to participate in the graduation ceremony!

Track and Field
The Preble girls track and field team placed 2nd at the 6- team Eastern Division meet in Sheboygan last night. There were many fine performances highlighted by Becca Gusmer’s wins in the mile and two mile, Emily Wallenfang’s wins in the low and high hurdles, Janna Eckert’s win in the high jump, Katelyn Smith’s win in the 800 and Stephanie Stock’s school record performance in the 400.

Our men’s track and field team won the East Division FRCC track and field meet last night by a small margin over Green Bay East. Preble won 3 out of 4 relays, the discus, high jump, and 800 m run. Double winners from Preble were: Mike Rettler, Anthony Lane, Ben Daniels, and Dillon Larson

HORNET GOLFERS FINISH 4TH
The Preble varsity golf team finished 4th in the 10 team Branch River Invitational 6-6-6 held in Manitowoc.

The two man teams of Tyler Wadzinski-Derek Rasmussen and Kyle Hafeman-Trevor Quass finished tied for 6th place in the two man competition.

GOLF PRACTICE FOR THE REST OF THE TEAM IS CANCELLED FOR TONIGHT!
