Jack Drankoff Preble Community 5K
So, you have heard all the announcements for the Jack Drankoff Preble Community 5K and you are still not sure if you want to sign up and do the event. Well here are the best reasons to help you to decide to sign up.
1) Proceeds from the run go to Sting Cancer. That means that you will be helping out cancer patients and their families who need help.
2) There are trophies to the top 3 in each category (remember that the cross country runners can’t compete)
3) Everyone gets a great new t-shirt.
4) The cost is only $15. What else can you get for $15 these days.
5) You are guaranteed to get this years run t-shirt.
6) The girls tennis team is planning on attending this years event.

The 5k run/walk is on Saturday September 20th at 9AM. If you want to sign up you can get forms in the main office or off of the Preble website. We hope to see everyone at this great event


Additional scholarships available in Career Center are:
-AES Engineers Scholarship – This scholarship is intended for future leaders across a wide spectrum of fields of study. Applicant is not required to enroll in engineering courses to be eligible. Scholarship is based on character. Scholarship is in the form of a 1,000 word essay. Application deadline is Sept. 21.

-NROTC Scholarship – There is no obligation to apply for this scholarship. Students commitment to the Navy does not begin until the beginning of his/her sophomore year in college. If student drops out before the end of his/her freshmen year, they are not obligated to pay anything back.

-Coca-Cola Scholars Foundation – Applicant must demonstrate leadership, commitment to community, and academic achievement. GPA of 3.0/better required. Applicant must apply online:

Musical

There will be “All Shook Up” rehearsal today from 3:15-5:00 for leads and ensemble members.

Any cast or crew member who did not attend the parent meeting last night please stop by room 247 to pick up your packet of information.

All musical forms need to be signed and returned by Sept. 22nd to room 247.

Yearbook:

There will be a meeting of all students interested in joining the yearbook staff on Monday in Room 205 after school. The meeting should be done by 4 p.m. See Mrs. Sutton in Room 205 if you are interested in joining the staff but cannot attend. Come find out how you can “earn” a free yearbook.

Vox Box:

Vox Box, Preble’s premier writing club for students will have its first meeting in Room 205 after school next Thursday. Come join us if you like to write stories or poetry and want to share your love of writing with others.

Knitting Club:

The knitting club will hold its first meeting of the year Wednesday in Room 205 after school. The knitting club is for any student or staff member who wants to learn how to knit or already knows how and just wants to join us. Last year we donated over 50 hats and mittens to homeless Green Bay students and many students were able to earn up to 18 service learning hours. Come find out what relaxing fun knitting is!

Attention All Freshmen!!

Tonight is the night! Link Crew invites you to attend the Freshman Dance! The doors open at 8:00 pm and we will be rockin’ until 11:00 pm. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. Be sure to bring your student ID. There will be music, and door prizes! Link Crew hopes to pack the gym tonight, and we need you there! You do not want to miss this!

Boys Soccer

Congratulations to the Boys Varsity Soccer team who won their game last night 1-0 over Ashwaubenon. A big thank you to all the fans that traveled to Ashwaubenon to support the team! Andrew Stone scored the goal and Eric Taushek had 8 saves.

The Boys JV team also beat Ashwaubenon 2-1.

Next game is Tuesday at home against Notre Dame.

The Buzz

There will be an important staff meeting for the Buzz in room 132 after school Monday, Sept 15. All members should attend.

Fishing Club
Those students who expressed interest in helping plan Preble’s first ever fishing club should come to room 228 on Tuesday at 3:00 pm. We will start putting together ideas for club activities for this school year as well as summer. See Mr. Valley if you have any questions.

Sign up in the Career Center

Preble Walking Club Announcement
Start the school year off on the right foot; join Preble Walking Club. Our first meeting will be Monday, September 15 from 3:10-3:45. We will meet by career service entrance of the LMC for sign-up and instructions. Plan to walk outside weather permitting. All students and staff are welcome to join us. Any questions, see Mrs. Glendenning in room 238.
