The Buzz
There will be a full staff meeting for the Buzz on Monday April 21 in room 132 immediately after school. We will be planning for the final issue of the Buzz. Everyone who wants to contribute articles should be there. We will also be discussing Senior Survey and the new format this year. Thank you.

Tonight there is very important meeting to put the final touches on Saturday’s dinner gala and talk about the May 13th wear yellow livestrong day. See you at 3:05 in the LMC!!
Earth Day
Earth day is coming up next week on April 22. Did you know that American cars, SUV’s and light trucks consume 8 million barrels of oil per day. Listen for more facts next week on the announcements. Do your part to save the planet.

Forensics
The 28 members of the 2008 Preble Forensics Team are on their way to Madison today to compete in the State Festival. They will be “Seeking the Gold!” and we wish them Good Luck!!
JV GOLFERS WIN FIRST MEET!
Davis Kim and Thor Nothstine each shot a 4 over par 40 to lead the JV golf team to a win over Notre Dame and Southwest in the first meet of the season.
The varsity will open its season today with a quadrangular meet in Manitowoc.
All those golfers not participating in the meet today are to be at practice today at Royal Scot.
GSA
There will be a GSA officers meeting Tuesday after school at 3:00 in room 258.
The meeting will last until about 3:30. All officers need to attend to be a part of the presentation at the meeting on Thursday. Please make arrangements and be in room 258 after school to get started.
The next GSA meeting will be Thursday after school in room 258. Day of Silence t-shirts will be handed out next week. Bring your signed participation form to room 258 before or after school and Miss Warnke will give you your shirt.
You can also get your shirt at the meeting Thursday with your signed participation form.
Travel to Jordan
The University of Wisconsin-Green Bay announces an exciting opportunity for high school students to travel to Jordan to learn the Arabic Language and their Culture this summer from June 15 – August 12. Students will spend several days in Washington D.C. and seven weeks at the Arabic language institute in Amman, Jordan. Students from across the U.S. will be selected to participate in this once-in-a-lifetime experience. Applicants must be 15-18 of age with a GPA of 3.0/better. No previous Arabic experience required. Application deadline is May 8. Stop in the Career Center for further information.
Harmony Café
Harmony Café a program of Goodwill plans to open in Green Bay June 19. Most of the programming is volunteer-led. They are looking to develop volunteer leadership to help coordinate and lead the program. The programs offered will be whatever the people of the Green Bay community want to see offered. For example, they may focus on live music, open mic, issue discussions, poetry and things like that. They are forming a Program Coordination Team to help oversee and lead the programs. A meeting is set for Monday, April 28th from 6-8pm at Southwest High School for those interested in learning more about this volunteer opportunity.
LINK CREW
This is a reminder that all sophomores and juniors interested in applying to be Link Leaders for next year need to turn their applications in to the main office by 3:15 today.
Once again, all applications for next year’s Link Leaders are due in the main office by 3:15 today.
The Presidential Service Award
The Presidential Service Award will be awarded to students who have completed 100+ hours of service from May 1, 2007 – May 1, 2008. Recipient will receive a medal and certificate signed by President Bush for their service.
If you are one of these outstanding students, please submit your service forms to Mrs. Bossell in the Career Center by May 1st.
Graduation
Seniors, graduation is quickly approaching. As part of your graduation requirement, you must have 24 hours of service learning completed. Those who do not meet the requirement will not receive a diploma. Students needing hours are encouraged to stop in the Career Center for ideas on how to fulfill the requirement.
REMINDER TO STUDENTS FROM STUDENT SERVICES DEPT:
The last ACT test for the school year will be June 14th. The registration deadline is May 9th. Late Fee Required from May 10-23rd.
If you are interested in taking the test for the first time or want to retake the test, registration information can be found in Student Services; otherwise, go to www.act.org to register on-line.
As always, if you have any questions concerning this test, your grades, or classes contact your Guidance Counselor.

Our Men’s Track and Field program will host the 31st annual Green Bay Preble Relays today after school. Field events begin at 4:00 with running events starting at 5:00.
Come out, have a good time, and support our men’s track and field team.

Check the locker room door for the Preble Relays lineup and tomorrows Sheboygan invitational line up.
You need to report directly after school today for the relays meet and if you are the Sheboygan lineup, you need to report to school at 7:30 am tomorrow morning.
